Blizzard please add a server status indicator on the battlenet launcher on the world of warcraft tab. Just have it present the same way it does on the realm page when you log in, listing them in order of servers with the most characters you have on top to least on bottom. I’m surprised this isn’t already in the game to be quite honest. Most every other MMO has server indicators these days and it seems strange that the leading one has overlooked this.
Having it on the launcher would be nice, as long as it’s reliable. In the meantime, go here:
I know its not on the battlenet launcher but this works.
Yes, everyone knows that you can view the realm status on the wow page or at least most players that have played for a while will. But that is really not what this topic is about. It should be in a convenient location, not on their website.
Since when has this EVER been an inconvenient location?
Since it’s not directly advertised and they have a launcher for a reason. If a new player doesn’t have a way to immediately see the server status but instead has to fish through a website to try and find it, there’s a problem.
Are you really attempting to convince people that it’s a hard things to find?
I’m not sure what you’re trying to argue here, should nothing be located on the launcher then? Should we have no display showing us the updates either? Should we no longer have the friends list located on the launcher? Perhaps we should have to go to the website to see our friends list because you can google that too right? Is this really the level of ignorance you want to stoop to just to argue?
Usually when servers are up they remove breaking news window from launcher. But yeah, dedicated indicator would be nice - or even better grey our play button if no servers to play on.
I’d be fine with greying it out when no servers are online, but I’d still like the indicator because sometimes different servers have different issues.
Knock it off. Quit being so damn dramatic.
It’s not being dramatic, it’s having a discussion with someone trying to argue a non-argument. Just because you can google something has no bearing on whether the act of locating said thing could be made easier or more convenient for the playerbase.
Friends list and realm status are too very different topics. Attempting to equate them is the only ignorance here.
No one is arguing that realm status can’t be on the launcher. Acting like it’s hard to find on the website is hardly the argument to use to get it there.
No, trying to act like it shouldn’t be on the launcher because you can google it, is arguing it. Whether you like to call your comment arguing or not is irrelevant. Stating that having the location in the launcher would be more convenient is not saying that it is too hard to find, just that it would be more convenient.
There is a reason every single other mmo on the market, even fledgling ones do this. Convenience.
actually there is good reason to not have server status available on the launcher. As you know, the launcher is a different service and server (authentication ones) than the actual game servers. This separation helps when there are issues between both and the flow of incoming traffic into any given game.
Having server availability would mean a few things:
- you would have your launcher constantly calling for connection status while idle on servers which can consume unnecessary bandwidth and resources on both your PC and their servers.
- You would have to extend this service to ALL the games available on the launcher, which would make the launcher a very heavy app prone to even more connection problems.
You are in fact being a bit of a drama queen. Calm down and first wait till the time that was announced, (11am PST). Then go check the breaking news announcement, and try to log on.
Or better yet, get with the program that Tuesday’s are maintenance and don’t play.
Yes, it’s called not having 8+ other games available in their launcher.
Ight, cool, now scroll your way back up there and find where I said, nope, no status on the launcher.
Quoted for your convenience.
I question your understanding of server operation or traffic if you believe any of what you said is true.
cool. keep screaming at the wind then. enjoy your nerdrage because you can’t be bothered to have a bookmark on your browser.
Since they implemented a launcher where a majority of players spend their time rather than on their website.
No one was really arguing that the information is ‘hard’ to find, either. You are the first one who made the implication, when really the argument is about the level of convenience. It is inconvenient to have it located where people aren’t spending a majority of their time, even if it isn’t ‘hard’.
You’re arguing against a point you brought up, a point no one made, and a point no one is defending. So what’s your deal, dude?
So what was the point of your comment if not to present opposition to the idea being discussed? i.e. an argument
