Blizzard Player Housing?

I know the very much discussed Idea of Player Housing has Blizzard saying No-Way… “We just can’t do it”… but seriously look at everything you have accomplished thus far! and you mean to tell me this is an impossible feat of strength?

Ok well I’m going to throw down some Ideas and thoughts to maybe help sway Blizzard a bit. this will be a long discussion so thank you if you read all the way through.

Let’s start with the pro’s and con’s

PRO: * Player Housing helps bring an MMO to life, and gives a player a more sense to the world at which their character lives in.

  • Gives players a feeling of more investment into a game.

  • Customization and boosting economy in the game.

CONS: Blizzard has to do all the work… that’s pretty much it.

Imagine this you have 4 tiers of houses.

1st Tier - Small shack able to be placed in player housing locations around the designated zones all across the map. small but with common essentials.
2nd Tier- Slightly bigger shack …slightly better
3rd Tier- Cottage- more home like than a shack.
4th Tier- House… actual nice looking house… basement 2nd floor the works.
maybe even Tier 5 - Guild Hall.

Each Tier of houses obviously would take mats and have to be farmed and would not be easy… and even when you have a house there is an upkeep fee to keep the house afloat if not met the house would disappear ( so afk or people not playing would lose their houses from no upkeep being met. that would save on world clutter and houses everywhere not being used. also would keep people playing the game so + on the subscriptions.

Now when you have finally collected the mats and have a house to place it’s a one click placement as long as its in housing area…you just click and place.

Now you have a house what do you do… well you furnish it with loads of items added to professions and dungeon drops. rare, common, epic and legendary furnishings…

Best thing about houses is they also have storage spaces…just like the bank system… so when you are out and about and are like “man by bags are full should I fly back to my house in Nagrand or fly to my Guild hall in Hellfire peninsula or… into a city and use the bank”… Who doesn’t love extra storage…

This alone would bring the world to life specially if you bring a butt load of new items to be farmed scattered across every zone…

PvP servers would have a lot more fun to this feature as it’s the more Hardcore version at best… think player housing on pvp servers where houses can be raided and broke into…(gives rogues something fun to do.) not easily of course… cause soon as you start raiding or breaking into someone’s house the entire zone is notified and marked on the map of where this is taking place… so yes you can break into a house but better hope there is nobody or even the owner to counter your act of theft… could even have it where anyone who successfully raids a house has a bounty on their head and cannot go to any city until a timer wears off or they complete a gruesome quest to shake the bounty… and in that same note could add another system to join some bounty hunter faction and hunt thieves down. so there is a lot to gain or a lot to lose in your actions… do you break into this house and live a life on the run and being hunted down hiding in the sewers and hoarding your loots… or make gold hunting down the thieves who commit such acts…

would you have to be worried about being door camped by rival guilds or players?..
Yes… but that would give purpose to making friends and enemy’s in the World of Warcraft.

PVE servers would not get the brunt of the stick either they still would have housing without the whole protect from players instead you could have them have to protect against NPC incursions…

Look I could go on for hours on why this would be strategically a great financial move on Blizzards part… but Blizzard wake up. You can do this! look at everything you have accomplished up to this point… the game has changed so many times in drastic ways… between LFG and LFR Pet systems and Island Expeditions and everything in between I KNOW YOU CAN DO THIS!.. question is do you think you can’t? Look I would be your creative content coordinator anyday… and make you way more than what you are making now. you just gotta have faith… in yourself Blizzard c’mon.

UPVOTE IF YOU AGREE!

While I agree that Player Housing could be a good thing if added in right. But a lot of people here will most likely either disagree with the notion, or think Garrisons were the Player Houses of WoW.

But heck, I want Player Housing.

If we seriously look at everything they’ve accomplished so far, “We just can’t do it!” sounds pretty accurate on Blizzard’s part.

Problem is it just won’t happen they already said no. Garrison is not player housing it looks no where near what a house looks like.

Other mmo’s has this concept but Blizzard doesn’t want this. I know 14 years of being Azeroths hero aiding in taking down the worst bosses in history doesn’t earn me a house plot to build a house on to live in.

The closest you are going to get I believe is the garrison from Warlords. From what I understand it was a flop.

Personally I loved my Garrison and still use it on several of my guys.

They said the same thing for classic servers but we’re getting those however many years later. Even blizz can change their mind.

/signed. I would love this. One of the reasons I still play SWTOR is because of the strongholds and being able to decorate.

Everytime I think of Player Housing I think of what FF14 has and how every single crafter in that game has some type of furniture to craft for housing. Then I look at WoWs crafting and I just sigh. Furniture crafting has made FF14’s crafting market very profitable, meanwhile on WoW …….

Housing is a dead issue, that Blizzard doesn’t want to do.

Ideas on housing are moot, since they’ve heard them all.

Thank you for the replys I understand all the aspects of what you guys are saying, I just don’t understand how a Goliath who is known for it’s accomplishments “Blizzard” could not blow peoples minds…too afraid to change the cash flow without consequence… when in truth your players still love when you try. don’t have to succeed to be great when you already are.

A Garrison is a player house

This topic has been raised many times but it is one of interest to a lot of people.

In fact, that is not entirely accurate. During a recent interview by a European site, 4Fansites, they asked the developers questions regarding player housing, and the answer given by the devs and posted on MMO-Champion was:

Housing is a big topic at Blizzard. The developers are still thinking about how to implement it, so it does not feel so clumsy.

So think again. It may very well happen. Not in this expansion, but for the future…who knows?

I was referring to a physical house in the world place able at any location of your choice…have you not traveled the world in the game right now there is a lot of dead open wide space…don’t believe me…wait until you play some classic again. look the game is huge and can accommodate thousands of player housing… even if they implemented sharding… it can happen all im saying…

Players sat in their garrison and complained they had nothing to do.

After you level up your house what are you going to do in it?

Just my opinion here. I think not only can they do it, I think they have the base code done.

I believe this will be held until they need a pull our rears out of the fire, like a bad fire, type situation.

Then boom we are working on it and blah blah. Would be smart on their part

I hear there is a nice farm plot available in Negeand though.

This subject of player house was discussed in detail and actually had some good ideas floating around, from economics to fun. But,blizzard has yet to make it happen, except the garrisons of course.

As for pvp and player housing there’s alot of games out there at do that and don’t think wow community would like it if there in death and steal tactics involve with there houses being ransacked and pillaged.

I’m going to take a week off of WoW and play through Skyrim again JUST so I can build the player houses again.

Oh, and garrisons were not player housing.

You don’t “do” anything in the house after you grind it/level it/whatever.

It’s like vanity pets or collecting all the shirts. It’s a fun thing that is just yours that you can customize how you like it.

I’ve saved the planet like 8 times. I think I should have a house. I would log in and be in the house, and have my “bank” in an actual closet or trunk there. I would have achievements graphically represented by things in my house. I would have a bed that belongs to me to sleep in when I have RP characters. I mean…it’s just like having vanity pets or farming rep for a fishing raft with the Anglers when I already have water walking and don’t need one.

It’s just for fun, and it’s a thing in almost every other RPG of this size. Even Paths of Exile has player housing for crying out loud. It doesn’t have to be a huge thing the entire expansion hinges upon. It shouldn’t be. It’s not that big. It’s a small thing, like transmog, that doesn’t change gameplay…but enhances a players enjoyment of the character.

You mean like in Conan? Yeah, no. That won’t fly in WoW.

Actually didn’t they say they were looking at it? I thought they did in an interview recently.
