Blizzard: Never Give In to Children Crying

One of the biggest rules in parenting is that when a child is crying about something you shouldn’t give in or else they’ll cry even more. It creates a cycle where they will literally cry at everything because they know eventually you’ll give in and reward them. Nothing has been closer to this than what the Alliance is doing: boycott War Mode. Now you’re giving them incentives for turning it back on which will in the long run just make them cry more.

The incentive for having War Mode on should be greater for BOTH factions so players feel crippled by having it off. The problem right now is the bonus is so small that many Alliance players opt-out in favor of increased productivity. If War Mode provided more incentive for BOTH factions you would have actual battles happening on a regular basis competing for those greatly increased rewards. Faction imbalance isn’t the core problem here; it’s the small 10% increased rewards that are worth it until you get camped for an hour.

Ultimately what a fix like this is going to do is going to result in dramatic power swings as each faction turns it on and off each week as risk and rewards change. To have a real impact on participation in War Mode we need to see some core shifts like bounties being unable to use flight paths, greatly increased honor rewards (making actual world PvP a viable grinding strategy), and a greater incentive than just a 10% bonus.

While I don’t agree with your reasoning I agree Warmode don’t need extra rewards. IF they think people want to PVP so badly they should only offer honor and conquest as rewards for using it. How many years did people roll on PVP servers for no extra rewards? Isn’t that what warmode is supposed to be?

Oh and while they are at it give players those PVP talents back as baseline abilities and not force people into PVP to use them. Looking at different classes I see a ton of PVP talents that used to be baseline abilities. Many of these abilities are just as useful in PVE as they are in PVP.

I would be more involved with PvP if the honor and conquest reward system wasn’t some silly convoluted gear reward system.

I agree, Alliance need to stop crying. They sound like a new born baby who aren’t always happy when you give them a bottle of milk drink.

I’m confused… are you calling the alliance people who use WM babies? or are you calling the people who don’t use WM babies? There is a reason why people choose pve servers, and I think blizzard didn’t take that into account when they created WM and did away with pvp servers.

The real question in this thread is, how the heck did you think of the same character name as I did?

Great minds think alike. I am all about that enlightenment.

No.

No and NO.

PvE should NOT mix with PvP this is just making the actual WPvP community more annoyed than anything. Remove the rewards if anything else and put every true WPvP in a shard.

THERE, FIXED.

I’ve read this exact post before with this exact wording, using the children comparison.

I really hope they do get rid of all the incentives to turn on warmode and make it just pure WPvP for the sake if it.

That way in a month when because of the population imbalances there aren’t any alliance left and no PvP happens we can all say, well, it’s what you wanted.

People seem to refuse to remember the whole reason they made warmode was because WPvP was completely dead on PvP servers. You take out all the incentives, the same thing is just going to happen again. Warmode will just become Hordemode.

Keep them and you’re gonna see an increase in players only using it for the bonus and the Against Overwhelming Odds quest. Which both not only contribute to making ilvl useless around that ilvl bracket but also just put uninterested PvErs that go do their stuff and turn it off.

Adding incentives did not make it any better. You just have people mindlessly doing WQs for the bonus and not caring about a fight going 2 yards next to him.

I’ve seen this exact topic before…word for word. Get some better material.

Yeah, that didn’t work so well with me. It left me with a deep loathing for Authority figures and great difficulty opening up emotionally to others…and it took one particularly perceptive and patient young woman to garner the affection required to get me to open up even slightly to her.

It falsely leads many to believe me a Sociopath, sometimes a Psychopath. As a result…it’s very difficult for me to socialize.

What does this even mean? How does people getting gear make item level useless? Unless you mean it means your higher item level no longer gives you an advantage when ganking…

Great, that means more victims for you to engage. If they weren’t there you would be alone. With no one to kill.

So? If the fight is happening then you are PvPing like you want. You are getting the WPvP you desire. Why do you care if there are five other people not engaging? That just means you have more targets after you finish off the one you are fighting. And again, isn’t that still better than just being alone with no one to fight at all?
