The community has already been split over the $40 extra early access that saw tons of people who paid get the opportunity to max out many characters early, and it is what it is, and there’s really no choice but to be at peace with it.
Now, however, that the game has “globally launched,” for the rest of players, they are suddenly NERFING how fast you will be able to level on starting August 28th. Ok, now early access is a legitimate scandal. Pay to play earlier, pay to level faster, pay to legitimately get ahead on your character list. Once the game launches, if you didn’t pay extra, suffer all of the nerfs we’re going to put in to make the experience harder or slower.
This is completely insane. The audacity is almost unbelievable. Every exploit, every unintended game mechanic, every fun bit of scaling, everything is ok so long as only a few people are doing it whether its a few mythic players exploiting a raid mechanic or or a few early access enjoyers leveling faster and earlier, but the moment the wider community gets ahold of something it’s suddenly a problem and time to bring the nerfs. This is completely backwards development philosophy. Insane.

Have they not looked at the level 71 dungeons? Hell, even the 74 dungeons…Over powered gear… Bliz… ffs…mages are doing 1+ million, dps demon hunters are tanking EVERYTHING up to the boss in 1 pull, hunters are also doing 1+million dps … I think getting to Khaz Algar being strong is not an issue…

Blizzard completely misunderstood the issue. The issue is you grow weaker with each level, it feels bad to be weaker with each level. So they are doubling down on this?

Yes, you’re suppose to be weak from the start!

To play devils advocate, this has always been a thing while leveling new content. Your stat req per percent gets higher as you level. The reason why the gap feels so great right now is because we were so overpowered the first few levels and it drastically scales down; ie the stats are becoming more normalized.

The leveling was too easy and mobs were dying in 1-3 hits for the first 5 levels. Get over it.

The naivety of the players is the only real shock here, it’s pretty standard that there’s something ‘bonus’ for the first players. Last tier it was rep rewards in Amir. It’s been BOE drops in raid, threads from frogs, you name it, has happened as far back as i can remember.
Stop acting like this is the only, or the first time something like this has happened. The key point is that NONE of these, that i can recall had any effect on your character besides more time invested. It pays to be early, and it pays to be first.

This is great news. Leveling was way too fast and easy. I am happy they see a problem and fix it

I don’t feel like this was always a thing.
At least not quite so pronounced.
Maybe the first level or two past the old cap, but definitely not the mid to upper range.
Enemy scaling is to blame.
When the zones had the run of the mill mobs set to a level range, the zones were actually were level gated. Sure, if you had heroic or mythic raid gear you were set for the first zone or two, but quickly you had to level in order to kill mobs in the more advanced zones. And level progression was slower and therefore felt even more meaningful.
They turned the difficulty wayyy down in at the earlier levels to where you’re basically just one hitting mobs now for the first 5 levels and do feel much weaker as you progress.
Feels bad and backwards

I leveled my first alt to 80 doing dungeons and got motion sickness a few times with how fast the mobs died.

Back to bait and switch. How does this affect the players who didn’t gear up with the prepatch event? They won’t be able to finish quests.

I’m against this change, but that’s being a bit melodramatic

I played in early release up until now and…no they weren’t. I’m a ret pally with pretty decent gear when leveling (mythic gear from dragonflight) and they were not dying in 1-3 hits. Don’t misrepresent the facts.

It’s not really that they’re doing it, it’s that they waited so long and now they should probably just leave it (or buff xp gains to compensate)
Like do it right at the start of ea, or not at all

they knew it was happening all the way back in beta, leveling power and speed wasn’t a surprise.
There is no way this wasn’t planned right from the day they decided to sell early access, and it is 100% going to happen again next expansion

You’re level 73. You’re mostly through when it was super easy.
Isn’t your post a bit melodramatic. I leveled an alt to 2 bubbles from 75 in an hour and 59 minutes doing dungeons. And I wasnt min maxxing my time.
My main (this toon) took no time at all. Each zone in the campagin felt insanely short. Blew right through it.
Even found myself thinking to myseld as I was grinding honor last night that nothing changed from DF really, I’m just in another city doing the same thing.
It was too fast. Be happy with the change, enjoy the ride. I wish I had another day or 2 to enjoy the new experience. EA was a waste of money.
no its not, early access doesn’t mean they should never fix problems, get over it

Like someone said earlier, this has been a thing during all of beta, it was reported, there’s no way they didn’t do it this way on purpose
