they were badass
And then whathisname void elf leader dude said “actually we always loved the alliance and believed in their core values. We were just on the horde because the rest of our people were”
I rolled my eyes so hard
Horde: eThNiC cLeAnSiNg iS cOoL
If you don’t like that, then do not rune in on lady liadrin’s story… She is worse.
Tbh, its more a social issue at this point. I’d much rather play Alliance, better PvP Racials, better looking races etc.
But i’m stuck Horde because everyone’s there.
Have a hard time seeing how Blizzard can “Fix” that outside offering cheap (free?) faction transfers, maybe.
Or a faction shake up!
I like this. Let me split from the alliance & join the Ebon Blade full time. At least then I’d be with all my brothers & sisters & the Ebon Blade doesn’t discriminate. We take every ones corpse.
“You aint cool, you’re
chilly, and chilly aint never been cool.”

Kill off all the leadership, and the alliance puppet leader in the Horde as well. That is your start.
There is nothing cool about being in the Horde anymore.
This is subjective. I think both factions are cool for totally different reasons, can’t we just appreciate both? Also, the player base is like a pendulum that swings between Horde and Alliance - they switch factions like FoTM. Recently it’s been Horde-heavy but there’s reason to believe SL will have the pendulum swinging back to Alliance.
The last great Alliance character was Varian Wrynn… he was awesome because he was more orc than orcs… dude came up as a gladiator.
The Alliance need some one like that on the roster. An unflinching bad&%$ that puts duty above pride, responsibility above glory. Basically some one that can go toe to toe with the most savage of orcs (by finesse not brutality) but be more concerned with the protection and well being of the alliance over their own reputation and achievements.
Some one gruff and unconcerned with rank or station… that just does the dirty work that needs doing. A military commander from the frontlines that avoids politics and pretence. Basically alliance needs a Saurfang.
Hear me out, Arakkoa and Ethereals…
Oh! I cannot believe you ended that with mentioning that traitorous piece of dung!
Varian was an awesome character and the Alliance has no one to ever replace that. The entire line up of Allies need to be rounded up an eliminated, and while they are at it every Horde quasi-leader puppet as well.
If Saurfang had honor, he would not have invited the Alliance to interfere. Varian would have never settled an internal conflict using the Horde as a crutch. The humans are not represented correctly in this story, it is like some grotesque fairy tale of snobbish righteousness. Who could side with the Alliance now… they wreak of overwhelming piety.
What the alliance needs to be cool is a truly gnome leader. A king or queen to rule all over gnomanity and control the clearly inferior races with a small hand of power.
The rise of a gnomonarchy, a small step towards coolness.
Varian did exactly that during Mists of Pandaria…

But what if I think the alliance is already cool
Varian allowed the Horde the opportunity to change, he did not invite the Horde to interfere. He knew better then to interject himself into a internal decision.
I think if you look at the story in the context of how we as players experienced it over 15 years, it feels really jarring and poorly told. If you are willing to suspend your disbelief (and forgive blizzard their bad storytelling), he is still a great character.
Post WOTLK Suarfang is shattered and a husk of his former self, his story in BFA is more of him finding or reclaiming his honour… at the start of BFA post Teldrasil he basically is at such a low point he tries to commit suicide by alliance a few times. Thats why at the end he talks about Sylvanas trying to kill hope, its his hope for the horde and the people of azeroth. He was demoralised and she exploited that… it was not coherently told but its a passable narrartive.
No.
He was a great character and they ruined him from the onset of BFA and throughout. I blame current staff of Blizzard for ruining the ongoing saga I enjoyed so much til now.
Making alliance “cooler” isn’t going to make people switch. People switch Horde because they have a substantially more active user base. Alliance is MONTHS behind in completing content and even then its difficult to find competent raiders. The issue isn’t storywise, its just a mass exodus that is happening making alliance less and less viable to play if you actually want to be competitive or experience content.
Its my view both factions offer races that are cool in their own way. Variety is great and I come to enjoy most of the races in each faction. They are different in their own right and there is no need to make both faction too similar. Should there be more internal strife in the alliance? Well after all the Horde has been put through it might make for a nice change…as long as it’s done right.
