I’d like to see a system where you don’t lose rating until after 2100. It would be a way for showing players that eventually, you WILL get there. That would mean rating and MMR would be different until that point. However, let’s say I’m 2k rating and 1200 mmr. I get 3-4 rating a win. I know I need about 30-40 more wins and I WILL get that gear. It may take me another 200 matches, but there’s an end in site. Course the better I am, the faster I can get there.
Currently, losing rating makes the walls feel impossible and it’s easier to quit and play a more rewarding game than to keep paying Blizzard. I’m just one of those idiots who likes arena so I keep playing because it’s the thing I want to do, but it’s not rewarding at all. I didn’t like Guild Wars 2 PvP since it didn’t have the CD style that wow has. That was a long time ago though.

You need to get with the times old man.
Sure, and Santa Claus is real. I just did another solo queue ranked game and it took 5min 30s. I’ll take a video on my next attempt
The WPvP in GW2 is basically its WvWvW. My motivation to kill is to capture as many keep and castle for my server. Objective based I guess.
Oh man, the 5-way, 3-way fights in HoH were so much fun, so was GvG. GW1 pvp > GW2
May I know what do you mean by CD style though? Because the more powerful offensive/defensive abilities have CDs in GW2.
The thing I like about GW2’s PvP compared to WoW’s is that there’s no proc based mechanics. Like as a Frost mage, I gotta pray to the RNG god for a brain freeze proc. And also I can cast and move so it feels a bit more fast-paced.

They just need a bolstering system like swtor or eso so that you have some quality of life.
Beyond that it’s still an MMO and gear differences will always be a barrier for newer players or alts.
I didnt ask that. I asked what’s your characters motivation… in an rpg.
Character’s fighting for his world?

The world crap feels bolted on. Unnecessary and trivial. If my character got the chance to side with scarlet and fight others in the open world because of that conflict, and the instanced pvp was somehow related to that, maybe gw pvp would be half as popular as wow pvp.
