I would be gone again the moment they do that, this is the worst Idea ever they have done to this game.
Don’t bring this aids stats again ever… stat template kills the fun part of ownning people in Bgs… I don’t want someone who logs in for a day in full green to be at the same level as me if I have 2400+ elite gear. no thanks.
I want to feel stronger by miles… and to see those HUGE crits.
Please don’t destroy the fun part of this game, you want to PVP work on your gear just like everyone else. This makes alts suffer more I know but it’s the point of it.
The current meta is mostly about gear over skill, you will anger a lot of nerds putting them on even level w/gear etc like GW2 pvp does. All of the 2-3 shotting in PVP would go away.
God forbid people play PvP for fun, skill, personal improvement or satisfaction. The worst thing about WoW pvp is and always has been the unfair playing field that disincentivizes skillful play.
GW2 PvP would beat out WoW for me if they put in arenas/more effort in their pvp system. Unfortunately the GW2 devs care more about PVE like Blizz because that’s what sells.
The PvP system in GW2 is far ahead of WoWs because it is a skill based system - Something that WoW hasn’t had properly balanced ever.
I play for all these things, but I play MMORPGs for fantasy immersion. World PvP is a must for me in this genre. The advances I experience in my character’s power must be evident in my pvp encounters in the open world. Trinkets I find, and magical items I uncover need to not be minimized.
I don’t PvP in wow because I think its balanced, or challenging or impressively designed. I pvp in wow because it helps me to more immerse in my character. As a dwarf, I pvp because I remember an undead warlock and rogue invaded Kharanos, right after I started. Kharanos became an impromptu battleground. It was exciting and immersive and helped to shape the way my dwarf feels about undead. As an undead, I pvp because of Tarren Mill v. Southshore. Hillsbrad Foothills decided for me that I would main undead for 12 years. It was so great.
Battlegrounds were an instanced version of that. They were thematic locations that had relevance for the factions. I was able, through suspension of disbelief, to convince myself that winning the battleground wasnt about topping the board, but progressing the faction.
There’s no reason rated PvP cant be what you want, while saving world PvP and random battlegrounds for what I want. But GW2 may have gave a good try to meaningless PvP and it may have been good as a stand alone, but it adds nothing to an MMORPG environment.
Uh… I just did my daily Ranked game through Ranked Solo Queue (something I wish WoW has) and the queue times are about the same as random BGs, so way shorter time needed than rated games here overall especially when it takes quite a while to set up a team in LFG.
I haven’t turned off WM since SL day 1 and World PvP is almost non-existent.
WoW actually did copy a few stuff from GW2. Before GW2, in quests like killing a special boss or something, if someone’s on it already you gotta wait for them to finish, and hope no one tags it before you do when he respawns. Now you can just join in. And for escort quest, same thing you gotta wait for those who are already on it to finish it first, then restart all the way back from point A. Now you can just hop on and join the on-going escort.
And those world quests where you fill up the progression bar by doing a few tasks instead of just killing certain mobs? Yeah got it from GW2 too. Latest one is probably the auction house. It was really quite a cutting edge game in 2012.
I’m really glad those features were copied and I hope the next feature will be the Solo Ranked Queue!
Warmode is inferior to rppvp servers. No question. Im not even sure what actual problem they hoped to solve and speculate it had more to do with the sharding infrastructure than anything else. But this quote is hyperbole. There is world PvP and if I see an undead, I have an option to try to kill it on my dwarf. Thats important to clarifying motivation in PvP. Why are you killing people in PvP in GW2? Like… what character motivation exists for engaging in PvP at all?
that’s literally wow. except now they’ve decided to BARELY touch any tuning whatsoever. even big patch notes barely have much in them for tuning outside of torghast. torghast has more notes in big patches it seems than actual character tuning. that’s sad
