I believe that the % of LGBTQ+ characters in the game are about equal to the % of the overall population in real life.

Not really, something like one quarter of the least closeted generation (Gen Z) is LGBT (mostly due to an increase in bisexual identification)

I will not say that you are wrong or right for Generation Z, but you are only selecting from a fraction of the population, and all of them count:

• Gen Z, iGen, or Centennials: Born 1996 – 2015.
• Millennials or Gen Y: Born 1977 – 1995.
• Generation X: Born 1965 – 1976.
• Baby Boomers: Born 1946 – 1964.

Note: since WoW is a game played world -wide, technically those populations would need to be factored in no matter how they break up “generations.” Cutting things back to just what may be considered the primary areas like China, Australia, EU and a few others would still likely prove impactfull.
