Blizzard needs a nameing solution

So I go to make a new character.
And as per ususual , I can’t think of a good name cause anything I like is already taken. So unless I want to face roll across the keyboard I am sol.
I even try looking up the name but 9/10 the name is taken but you can’t see it cause the name is sitting on someone’s lv 1 alt .

They need to fix this issue. CAuse it is getting REALLY lame.

Naming solution:

  1. Increase the amount of characters in names.
  2. Give the option of one space, hyphen or apostrophe.

That gives a larger name pool, gives people the option of last names and allows people cultural naming conventions for the races.

Not even that, but they should delete the inactive character names that have been inactive for year plus.

Accounts idle for a couple of xpacs do have the character names reset. Ive picked up many 2 and 3 letter word names for my new characters. From time to time I check and make a few new ones I may use some time later on.

They do. I believe they remove any characters from an account so many years old.

You can already add characters with alt lettering in them (with ^ ’ and so forth). People just keep wanting to use names of famous people or characters.

Apparently this will never be a thing. They changed the policy on freeing up names a while back. Now, you just have to be active on your Battlenet account once every three years to keep your WoW character names. So you can play a match of Hearthstone, never touch WoW, and keep your names forever.

Only if the Battlenet account hasn’t been active.

I’d actually use RP names if it were like that. I use names like Arietta and Euphemia in RP and of course stuff like that is taken. But I think it’d be unlikely that my full names would be taken.

No, but their names can be reset to anon6453e56.

Who logs in randomly every 3 years though? Just to keep a name in a game they dont play? Unless they are trying to sell it.

Meh, I usually hit random until I see something I kinda like then tweak to my preference. I have a number of names on my account where that character is the only one in the whole of the playerbase that even has it

People do play other games on their Battlenet accounts…

The space is your surname option. Thus why I said:

I said surnames. So 3 words.

I disagree that we need people running around as Wilmington Charlesfeffer Danstromphuree taking uo that much screen clutter.

I do agree that with all of the magic tricks they’ve done to their code to increase expansion features they could definitely work on names too

… okay then. Sorry I disagreed with something. Who knew having a different opinion means someone is a jerk.
