Blizzard kills another part of the community in 8.2

Twinks shouldn’t be doing most of this. It’s an issue with scaling in this game. Blizzard needs to come up with a better system, but it’s pretty horrendous that someone who’s OP from a previous expansion should be clearing current dungeons faster and better than Mythic level raiders (high M+ players).

They need to remove scaling and go back to Classic.

This would fix the scaling issue and twinking problem we’re experiencing.

To stop an exploit of being 110 with BiS Legion Legendaries?

Legendaries are only useable from 110-116 (I think or 115).
The power drop is just insane after you lose your legendaries. I’d say they affect negatively leveling more than if they weren’t in the game.

Please explain to me how that statement nullifies my argument?

I made three points: one indicating that one of your statements was false; two indicating that I do not base my opinions of streamers.

Explain to me the logical fallacy.

This is too bad, as outside of the twinks and what not, it affects those who want to play older content – “at level”. Play Wrath dungeons at 80, with other players at 80. When Halls of Lightning was actually dangerous.

That’s a shame. Ideally they’ll come up with another way to manifest that capability.

I need to try Eso out again. Been a long time. Curious how it is

So let me see if I understand this correctly.

  1. Blizzard does scaling, but it’s so hamfisted, it creates this leveling issue.

  2. Blizzard does NOT fix those problems with scaling.

  3. People figure out how to game the messed up system.

  4. Blizzard doesn’t like people gaming the messed up system.

  5. Blizzard comes up with a new systems to “fix” the gaming of the system.

  6. Blizzard’s “fix” to the system is itself going to cause new problems, like great opportunities for griefing.

  7. Blizzard will leave those problems as is for years, leading to annoyed players who gamed the system originally and newly annoyed players affected by the new way to grief.

  8. Blizzard looses even more players than it already has because a “fun” way to play was removed and a new way to “grief” was added.

Did I miss anything?

It amazes me that Blizzard has so, so much time to devote developer resources to identifying these problems and developing these solutions that create ever more problems that they will either ignore, deny that they exist, or eventually create yet another marvelous “solution” that will just start the cycle all over again.

From all the gripes here before they were basically banned from battle grounds, it was the lower level brackets. Some poor scrub got owned in a BG, and we will never know if it was actually a twink. So instead of trying to figure out how to counter the attacker’s tactic it’s off to the forums! It’s really sad, an entire group of players getting their chosen fun destroyed by a few folks that didn’t get their participation trophy.

And I can’t wait until after 8.2, and the same gripe gets posted. It’s gonna happen!

That can very well be considered an exploit. Using an in game system / mechanic for unintended purposes. But, they’re simply nerfing the power levelling people are doing. That’s what this was aimed at. Pepople using it for selling power levelling services.

Sadly it seems that boat sailed long ago - but fixing the broken 110-120 scaling would make more sense.

Seriously, who in the heck thought it would be a good idea to scale 110s as if they were playing god mode in BfA content, while scaling 119s to feel like characters wearing greys with missing slots?

Also if boosting is so problematic for Blizzard, what next, some sort of ilevel penalty in M+ or raids to prevent carries?

And if a similar system is not put in place in current content to penalize carries, why not, why would it be considered ok to carry people in current end-game content, yet not leveling content?

The scaling is broken in the game and you realized this now? lol. This is just another reason why the level squish will be so bad. Blizzard is incompetent to do it properly. We’ll get a complete mess that will take them months to sort out.

Change happens! Good possibility level crunching is coming…After that occurs twinking prolly will return. All of us who pvp, love to do it. Things may never bee  the same…doesn’t mean its terrible. Its just change…This will occur over and over in your lifetime, nothing stays the same.

All the old Gatekeepers are not-so-slowly disappearing one by one.

Oh, right, it’s an exploit, as evidenced by the big ban wave that went out to punish people for doing it and the quick hotfix they implemented to stop it.

Funny, I don’t recall seeing an outcry about the ban wave and I seem to recall that they didn’t “fix” it in a hotfix but are waiting until patch 8.2 to roll it out, whenever that will be.

This is my ever growing problem with Blizzard. Instead of actually fixing the problem (the level scaling which makes this possible for example) they stick to their guns and make choices that negatively impact people who were not exploiting, because a few were.

My fear is that level locking at 60/80/90 etc… for things like “actually playing the game at the level it was meant to be played at without out leveling the content” will be negatively impacted by this.

I’m a newer player to the game and I am still working on playing through everything there is to play. But because old content is nerfed the only option is to shut xp off - if you want to finish an expansion.

Now those of us who use the xp off system to do what it is intended to do could be punished because of a few people exploiting…

Is my lvl 60 locked going to be able to run dungeons without negatively impacting the people I randomly grouped with?

Are the 110s I have locked to finish legion class hall and profession quests going to get kicked every time they queue because they give the group a debuff?

Seems like this is something blizz needs to clear up - how it works and for what levels. Is it only active in BfA content or the whole game?

If its a further breaking of my ability to play through old content as it was meant to be played my interest in the game will return to 8.0 levels of “I think I’m done with this”.

Actually it won’t impact you running old content. You can hop in a group, run the old dungeons “at level”.

Just the XP gains will be severely nerfed because you have XP off.

That’s all that is changing. You can still run the content. That’s not changing.

Twinks just won’t be able to help others power level by taking advantage of scaling.

So if I am locked at 110 if i am running a legion dungeon, the folks I randomly group with will not get a debuff? Same for 60 or 80?

It would be nice to have a blue explain this… because I have not seen anything which makes the distinction, just a lot of speculation from both side.

You must love pointless grind~

True, a better explanation from a Blue would be great. I won’t deny that. But the writing is on the wall. The fact this specifically targets XP and nothing else says this was aimed at destroying people’s ability to take advantage of xp off + scaling issues.

Making it clear HOW it works would help. Your best best is to check the PTR forum as I saw a couple threads there where folks were testing it to get info.
