Blizzard, it's unanimous. Replace Divine Steed. It's universally hated

I see quite a bit of variety of how people envision how the new Ret. Paladin rework. But one take away I see in just reading various sub-Reddit, checking out Paladin’s Discord, trawling through several mega-threads is that it’s so overwhelming in how universally disliked Divine Steed is.

I think the truth is that people who don’t mind Steed just don’t say anything and let the people who don’t like it voice their complaints. Divine Steed is completely fine by my book. The design makes enough sense to me. Especially, if they would add Blessing of Freedom to it. However, I’m in the opposite boat of people who want us to look like we are running with light behind us, I’d rather just mount up real quick and run people down. That can be fixed with a simple cosmetic Rune/Glyph thing though imo.

I definitely just dislike the theme and visual of the ability.

Personally I don’t mind Divine Steed as a mobility option, what I do mind is it’s ridiculous CD of 45 seconds and having too talent into it to make it useful.

Divine Steed should be reduced to a 30 second cd, Cavalier should be baseline aswell as Seasoned Warhorse.

Seasoned Warhorse should then become a pseudo cleanse on roots/slows and not allow you to drop below 100% movement speed.

So baseline we get Divine Steed at 30 sec cd, lasts 4 seconds and has 2 charges.

Then we can choose to cleanse roots/slows and not be hindered below 100% movement speed if slowed after, or the never picked Seal of the Templar.

Leave my steed alone. I think it’s fine and I like it.

I enjoy Divine Steed, but really think it could use some adjustments to be glorious.

I agree with OP. We see very different views and opinions about Ret, but the one thing in which there is a clear consensus is the Steed feeling lackluster and unrewarding to use.

I love steed. Just needs a freedom attached with a longer duration

I’m fine with the basic appearance of steed, it’s graphics, built in freedom, etc,

It’s all paladins get. Make it at least a really valuable button that feels good to click … and let’s Paladins survive something crazy.

It just needs to have different mechanics

I really dislike farting a horse into existence. If people like it fine, but please for the love of god atleast give us a glyph to replace the animation with speed of light or something.

If the horse actually acted like a horse i might like it more, but its still ugly as all heck.

It’s awful I hate the steed myself

Like it or not, a mounted knight should be part of the class. It is a classic, essential and part of a lore that long predates WoW.

Making paladins zip around like demon hunters is a ridiculous, and unnecessary, graphical change.

Is a bad ability people just take it as is better than nothing.

Kinda of like if you haven’t ate for 3 days and is staving and someone gave your expired canned food or expired bread with some mole on it. You will still eat it coz you are hungry. It doesn’t make the expired food any better just you have no other choices and is better then going hungry.

Same with Divine steed is better than having nothing.

I disagree 100%. Pursuit of justice and laotl are FAR more thematic than a horse added in legion.

Even back in wc3 paladins didnt have a mount. That was created because of d3 crusader. Imo the knight fantasy cannot be done well enough for a mmo. So it just doesn’t fit.

After all what fantasy knight gets on their horse for 3s rhen immediately gets off? Cant do a trample or pull either. So the horse just feels meh.

Why can’t it be a horse?

That’s my argument.

It’s just graphics.

Make the mechanics be what ver you want, but summoning a steed is pretty much the expected unless you want some wings to sprout out our backs, or we jump up and crush like a warrior or we blink across the map like a wizard.

Let it be a horse. It will be ok.

Built in freedom? What do you mean by that? Steed doesn’t have any snare clearing effects at all. You can be slowed, pop it and still be slowed from whatever was on you before. You need to combine freedom with steed to avoid that.

I think Divine Steed is really cool thematically I won’t lie. However in reality it is basically a worse version of deaths advance in every single way.

Deaths advance: passive doesn’t allow you to be slowed below 75%, active doesn’t allow you to be slowed below 100%, gives you 35% movement speed, makes you immune to knockbacks/pushbacks, is off the gcd, can have 2 charges if talented, on a 45 second CD, lasts 10 seconds.

Divine steed: Increases movement speed by 100%, on the gcd, 45 second cd, can have 2 charges if talented, lasts 3 seconds (or 4 if talented lol).

The difference is wild. Divine steed is probably one of the worst mobility spells in the game I think. Visually I do like it though.

like dh momentum, paladin steed is 100% a loud minority complaint, most people dont care. just put a speed of light glyph to get rid of steed, because speed of light is a worse movement ability than steed (once steed has all its talent upgrades)

Id like to see a separate mobility option as choice along with steed as it currently.

A port to the heavens then drop down on the target would be cool.

Something in addition to steed is needed for the class.

You never asked for my opinion; how can it be unanimous?

I want them to give paladins a reduced cool down on this talent and the Lightspeed spell from the exiles reach questline.
