On single target, these changes were previously an 8% buff single target (if you currently have a Bow) and a 16.5% buff single target (if you don’t have a Bow) for Beast Mastery. From these changes, it seems like Blizzard didn’t intend for this to be as big of a buff and are pulling it back.

How is buffing, but not as much as part of the iterative design process, a sign that Blizzard hates a spec?

Mythic raid boss damage BM hunter is #1 by a mile. Mythic+ dungeon damage they are sixth from the bottom. Dialing back single target and increasing aoe is the right move my dude.
No one should be surprised that Blizzard is reverting some changes that would have made BM Hunters, already among the top single target DPS in the game, even better at single target DPS post-bow nerf.
A lot of people were saying Blizzard should have buffed BM’s AOE more and their single target less.
And that’s what appears to be happening!

Agree 100% or at least double its duration.
No disrespect, but bm is the easiest spec in the game to play by a mile. It shouldn’t be topping the meters especially when compared to classes with a much more complex rotation. The proposed buffs were INSANE and needed to be tuned down.
I say this as a former hunter main.

Hunters can never have anything good.
They nerfed the Raz bow to the ground and these buffs were meant to compensate that.
Reducing these buffs by more than half of the announced buffs while keeping the massive Raz bow nerfs shows that Blizzard hates the Spec a great deal.
I don’t really care about the buffs so much as that the Bow needs to be nerfed.
The bow is giving BMs who have it around 15-20% buffs. Maybe more. My guild mate DPS on Terros went from 67k to 92k just from the Bow.
That’s really unfair playing field for those with and those without.
The nerf is the first step. Tuning can always be done after.
10% more damage on Beast Cleave which is already a straight garbage thing not worth aiming for in the talent tree? How is that even remotely a good buff to their AoE?
I’m not familiar enough with the numbers to say how far this buff goes in AoE, but more importantly, are you saying that you’re doing heavy AoE content like Mythic+ without taking Kill Cleave?
If you want AoE then be a Marksman. Beast Master is the single target spec.
What if there was some way that Blizzard could make BM better at AoE? Perhaps by buffing talents that increase their AoE damage?
