Blizzard is restricting my IP

When the recent DDoS attacks were happening I kept getting disconnected until I wasn’t able to log back in without having to use a VPN. I’ve done all the troubleshooting, and reset everything. Support told me it’s not Blizzard so to ask my ISP. My ISP told me my IP is still being restricted by Blizzard. Then Blizzard support told me they knew this was the issue but they have no tools to fix it, I needed to come here and make a post.

This is mainly players discussion, just fyi. It’s monitored, but not respose is guaranteed, and no eta.

Disclosure given, but for added information please include your geographical location, your isp, what kind of connection wifi or ethernet.

Up to you, but note I did not ask for your address, or IP address. Just general information.

Since I can’t review your last ticket reply I just have to advise this is not a way to guarantee to fix your connection issue, but to help the team monitoring the forum for wide spread connection issues.

Hopefully the VPN will continue to work as a stop gap in the meantime.

How am I supposed to get help with this issue then? Blizzard support said this was the only way to resolve my problem because they don’t have the tools. I really don’t feel comfortable posting a bunch of information to a public forum.
Really missing the old days of Blizzard support.

Not sure on the exact wording that was used in your ticket since I don’t work at Blizzard. Usually, when an issue falls outside the scope of things they can help with, they recommend posting on the forum in case other players might know a solution, and so the teams monitoring the forums can collect the data. The forum doesn’t offer guaranteed solutions.

That isn’t exactly accurate, Krazy. They said “I am sorry you are having this issue as a potential consequence of the recent DDoS attacks”.

It isn’t something they would be able to confirm, since they don’t know if that is in fact the case. They tried referred you to the Bug Report forums to report the issue so our Game Developers (though specifically our QA team), could look into the matter.

I will say that the phrasing in the response is more than a little confusing. Be sure to fill out the survey, which you should receive once you mark the ticket as resolved.

I’m going to leave this thread open so you can further troubleshoot this with tech savvy folks here.

Sorry for my confusion, this is where it kept taking me when I would click on the ‘Bug Report Forums’ link. The wording was a bit confusing.

Do I need to make another post under bugs?
What do I do If I already closed the survey?

This should be the Support Article in your last response: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/339262

The link in there should take you to the World of Warcraft® Bug Report Forum.

You don’t have to, you can continue to troubleshoot here. Assuming the tech savvy folks here have some ideas on what might help.

If there is an issue with us blocking your IP, which would be a bit odd, posting in the Bug Report forum might help our QA team to look into it. If you do post, include what your ISP told you.

I’m afraid there is no way to reopen, but I have passed on some feedback as well.
