Blizzard is focusing funding on Classic

To some people, that’s absolutely fine. They’ll roll alts or RP or PvP or whatever; they’ll find ways to make their fun without content patches every six months.

The people who will be disappointed are the ones who believe that Classic will be spun off into it’s own special game with its own alternate timeline that will involve its own expansions. If you’ve spent any time over there, there are a lot of them.

Then there are those who want TBC done next on yet another set of servers that they can copy their toons over to. I think those people have a better shot at having their hopes realized.

I’d love to keep the current combat as it is but add more spell choices. You have 1 spell for a certain kind of situation, like as ele shaman, if there is more than 2 enemies, just spam earthquake. otherwise, use earth shock. If AoE, use chain lightning, if not, use lightning bolt.

While it is a fun class to play overall, I feel like having more spells would just smooth out a lot of issues people have with combat, ie more choice.

On that side of thigns I can agree. PVP gets it rough for gearing. As far as PVE goes, it’s great. But if you don’t like M+ or raiding, getting gear is a chore, nevermind getting a good drop + a socket.

no need to spend any funding on classic till probably late next year when they are getting ready to drop naxx in dec 2020 #no changes means classic “plus” is a fairy tale the people that re subed for just classic are a low cost high return investment that will be perfectly happy running around in dungion blues and just doing what they do

I would rather have complex classes rather than a complex gearing system. An I deal world for me would be wrath gear system but add in reforging.

Retail, because you can’t monetize classic at all, the ever growing ingame store is way more profitable than the subscriptions, Blizzard itself said it

The ones who think there will be a new timeline with it’s own set of expansions are strange. Because what do you add? Do you upgrade the models in 2.0 or does that still have to wait till alt 6.0? Things like that make alt universe from classic a weird thing to even consider.

We do not have the in house info on income from micro transactions though. Classic has none and Retail has tons along with many reasons from game play to use them.

We needed another one of these threads.

How is that a meme? Getting someone to start playing a 15 year old game is quite hard. New subs are hard to come by yet with Classic we know there is still a massive crowd interested in starting over with a new character. The problem is that Classic is a novelty it has no futute perspective aside from rereleasing old xpacs. And then you still have the issue of outdated graphics and coding.

Obviously retail aint going away for a long time but having a brand new mmo running next to WoW is 100% an option.

if they put a wow 2 out without the ability to take your gold/toons/mounts etc with you i’d rather play ff14 full time than rebuild when i already have plenty of cool stuff in normal wow.

Discussion on the direction of the game is always a good thing.

how much could it possibly cost to feed the hamster wheel running the handful of classic servers? not much
sheesh

Actually, I am of the opinion that if you were to completely revamp the graphics to something modern, with great animation systems, good lightning and shadows and slightly destructible environments while keeping the cartoon style and properly implement the action camera, it could attract some players back.

Also better sound that doesn’t make every fight sound like a sloppy mess of low end rumble.

I agree but that is nearly impossible with so much content we have like just compare old Dalaran with Legion Dalaran. The graphics arent better just the ingame models are made better.

also, I haven’t heard the term classic+ in this thread, you guys are slipping

That has literally nothing to do with my question, I’m talking about from a pure game development standpoint, which one would be a better idea for Blizzard?

You quoted the first sentence without even answering the question I asked…wuutttt

Also, classic has so simple mechanics that you can genuine move it to mobile, that is why people like it so much.

Come at me with the income from microtransactions and I will answer the rest. I am talking from a income point of view not a gamer view point. I though you were also.

classic realm character pop us: 2,206,988
