Blizzard is a business

This comment makes me laugh every time I read it. I try to read it in different tones too just for fun and it’s funny every time

Say that again after you see how much Diablo 4 made in the first month.

So I take it I’m not getting the night elf bikinis?

What about himan bikinis? Can we get those?

I think WoW is like once a playground, turned into a prison.

That’s what it’s beginning to feel like to me since TBC…/sigh

Businesses accommodate the consumers. Blizzard? HA!

This resonates with me. It really was like a playground in the early years. So many people playing. Awesome community too.

Think this through.

No way… You mean a business with paid employees… exists to generate revenue??

Woah!!

Anyone thinking this wasnt the goal since day 1 of blizzards existence is huffing glue.

At this point it seems likely.

and converse.

I agree they are a business,

but isn´t exactly this the elephant in the room? Games these days are not made for gamers, but shareholders. They want a certain amount of gain each quarter, so you develop your game to make that possible.

That being said, I still feel that the games by Blizzard are fun, but they lack depth to be interested in them for a longer time. They are like EA games used to be 20 years ago.

You played it for a month and then moved on and came back a year later for the new edition.

When Blizzard released WOW, you were playing it every day for the most part of the first two years. You had something new to discover each time you did log in, that doesn´t exist anymore today.

It´s just a grind of the same every day until you are fed up and take a break.

And here I though this was a Wendy’s…Who knew :dracthyr_shrug:

this is a breadburger. im pulling in the drivethrough and demanding my burger.

I do think there is another aspect to this that you didnt cover.
That is the group of players who live on this game who will start screaming to the heavens if they get bored, lol.

I think youre right on pretty much all points, but also blizzard has to account for the 20 hour a day sort of player who will be out of content in a month if not for gating and all those harder to get currencies.

Not to mention that the content is supposed to last for months…or many months…or even many many months.
If allowed, we’d burn thru it all in 10 days and be whining that theres nothing left to do.

please dont make me defend blizzard ever again here, lol…but they do have a balancing act trying to keep the casuals happy, the “I have a job and a famly” players happy, and the even the disableds and shut ins who play so much for lack of anything else to do.

Im so pro capitalist that my blood is green with a watermark lol…BUT…wall street was the worst thing to ever happen to a free market.
Companies should be there to make money for the owners AND for their employees…NOT for some clown who inherited daddies money who has never worked a day in his life, but has daddies money to keep invested to suck the financial life out of a corporation so the employees are having their pensions tanked and cant make a fair wage because the corporation is more interested in paying investors than paying their workers.

OP , very interesting! Please explain other mysteries!!

You have just described the two sides of the top two major political parties of most western nations during the 20th century. In the US it would have been the elephants on rich daddy’s side and the donkeys on the side of labor.

If they didn’t make good games then people wouldn’t play them. If you force yourself to play games that you don’t enjoy then you need to seek video game addiction assistance.
