Yep, which is why I was trying to be really clear when saying it wasn’t an issue for OG Wrath since we did have access to what they have (not sure if the ol’ cove has gotten their hands on any of the classic versions yet).
Either way, we both can agree that anything worth doing is worth doing right, and if we are beginning to preserve things and further split off the track Naxx 40 is worth doing. So would preserving all of the vanilla dungeons come wrath, but that might be much more simple of a thing since they are effectively two entirely separate maps so it would be a matter of allowing you to go back and forth.
I was already a promoter of keeping the old world accessible since classic launch and now if they are doing it, I’m sure as hell going to push for the rest.
The only hang up is whether the juice is worth the squeeze. Will it cost money? Yes. Is the money spent worth the content we get?
->This is the purpose of this forum today which is to say “yes the content is worth spending the money.”
It is literally NOT the same instance.
It is based on naxx 40.
But unlike building a physical structure, where my new interior design is based on my old design and in the same physical location (inside the building),
changing
(1) “printf(“hello, world”);”
into
(2) "printf(“hello, newworld”);
does not delete (1), unless blizzard once worked in a way that literally overwrote all existing code of the dungeon without creating a copy, which is 100% impossible, else they never would´ve finished wotlk naxx at all.
People need to understand that their physical , reallife based perception may not be adaptable to coding.
This is BB talking out excuses for lazyness.
Im in charge of changing stuff in my job. “Its not simple” is the most common way of telling someone without technical knowledge that what they want is:
-unnecessary in my opinion
-requiring more time than their money pays for
-i have better things to do
its never about being hard to do.
He just follows the intention of blizzard, that wanted to tell this bogus story to the DAU´s.
Would definately be a few days work copy pasting code and creating new mob/spell IDs labeled Patchwerk40, Hateful Strike40, whirlwind40, death knight40, etc since they probably used identical IDs for the wotlk version. Then referencing it all and praying it doesn’t bork itself.
Or at least I suppose thats what would happen, I know very little of coding and how it works. Seems like a lot of trouble so that a couple people can get old sets, unless they planned to stop classic in Wotlk and slowly re-add all the removed content.
The devs in 2008 actually did overwrite Naxx40 in the Wrath with the new version. While they obviously have all the code for it in the vanilla and bc clients, they cannot just simply “copy + paste” it to Wrath. Software development doesn’t work like that sweetie.
It literally is. The zone ID, the NPC IDs, the spell IDs. You can even go to wowhead and compare between Classic and LK.
Also you can glitch out of the walls of Naxx here in Wrath and see Eastern Plaguelands outside. That’s why they removed the lower room in the center, cause you won’t see Dragonblight looking out of it.
People saying its not the same instance hehe but it is. When you logged out in old naxx and then prepatch hits you literally got ported into dragonblight for 1 second zoning out of naxx having the ‘no mans land’ blizzard buff.
Its the same instance just different mobs and what not
I don’t really understand why anyone wants Vanilla Onyxia to be accessible in Wrath. Are people turning off xp at 60 and having a massively toned down vanilla experience with Wrath talents and nerfed content?
