Blizzard I beg you - DO NOT enable regular flying!

Because you know as well as I do it will not stop there,

I have no idea what you’re talking about. People ask for crap all the time and Blizzard ignores them all the time. That is not a real argument.

Have you ever been high and played wow? Flying at a slow pace and looking at all the things blizzard created is great. Going 800% would be too fast while going “woah man look at that tree”

Because hes trolling for attention.
He knows it doesnt affect his game in any possible way. lmao.
When its obvious theyre just trying to get the attention they craving at home, its time to use that ignore button.

Me. I never did the pathfinder achievements to unlock flying in the old world because I don’t care one way or another. I’m happy riding around on my triceratops looking at trees and listening to the bugs but they made it so this expansion punishes that.

Basically, They are scared that if regular flight is enable, they will either nerf DR, or buff regular flying.

Again, that makes no sense. That’s a bunch of “what ifs” that will probably never come true.

The only thing that will happen is the same thing that’s happening now with people on ground mounts. They’ll be going slow and people dragon riding will be doing circles around them.

I can’t get used to being Motion Sick.

Sure they do. Just like male and female being turned to body types one and two were not blizzard listening and giving into to a certain viewpoint.

Since dragon riding is vastly faster than old flying, why would you care if people choose a slower speed? In what way does this affect you?

I don’t overly care for dragon riding other than it’s faster. I do however wish they’d open it up to more mounts, at least all of the dragon/drake mounts we have in the future. Not every flying mount needs to have this feature and nor is it bad to have both dragon riding and regular slower mount flying. Sometimes I like to afk fly to an area when I need to get up for a couple minutes. Who cares if people use it, it affects you none.

Blizzard should expand on this idea though for other mount types, like GW2 does. It is a good system, even if I don’t want to use it all of the time.

Interestingly enough, I agree.
Flying as we know it is just a glorified noclip with a texture slapped on it. Dragonriding makes flying more immersive and thrilling. The motions, the speed, the sounds - it makes the game way more enjoyable and amazing. Dragonriding set a new standard that we simply cannot go back to. WoW must evolve and Dragonriding needs to come to all mounts, and old flying phased out.

it doesnt, they know it doesnt.
which leaves the obvious conclusion that they are trolling here for attention…and we are all giving it to them.

It won’t stop there. They will then cry for a buff for flying or a nerf for dragonriding.

It boils down to crying wolf. Now, I’m sure there will be some post wanting one or the either. They are assuming too much that Blizzard will, take away their new toy.

I’m going to disagree with you on a couple points.

Dragon riding is absolutely better in the pure speed department; no doubt about that.

The rest of it though, is like comparing a jet airplane to a helicopter.

The jet will always get you from A to B much faster and more efficiently than the 'copter.

The copter however, has much more utility in other situations, to wit:

It can hover. You can stop and look at the scenery instead of simply blasting by it at high speed.

It can maneuver and change direction much better at lower speed, without falling out of the air. You can locate and get to items of importance such as nodes and treasures far more effectively. (Especially considering I have found a fair number of nodes and packs in tricky places that do not favor dragon ridings low maneuverability very well.)

So, I would agree that dragon riding is better at the thing it does best, which is travel at speed.

For the utility however, I would argue that regular flight is definitely better.

Your mileage may vary.

VERY well stated.

I feel like this is going to be truth. And the real reason why they don’t want regular flight enabled. They feel like it would be cheating them out of something.

Because the ability to hover and have that level of control is not good for exploring the game.

We will get the regular flying in DF.

However it’s likely not coming before 10.2 or, perhaps (but less likely), 10.1. In the meantime they should do whatever they need to do to make the existing DR more accessible for players with disabilities, including people who suffer from motion sickness, visual impairments, and various manual limitations.

At the same time, I think it would be helpful for the future of the game if, when they bring “normal” flying to DF, they would experiment with some modified features of it, like modifying the hover ability to only work for 5 seconds or so, and some kind of running takeoff and/or cooldown on taking off again after landing instead of the insta-vertical helicopter one it has now.

I think if they did that it would help with the issues that cause Blizzard to not want people to fly early in new expansions, which would perhaps make it more likely that in future expansions we will get flight, including “normal” flight (with those two modifications), and we can have fast travel early in future expansions.

I think it’s clear that Blizzard will never again give us the old-style “normal” flying early in the life of an expansion, and we can see from DR what concerns them and what doesn’t – they don’t care about whether we move across the map quickly (we can do that on day 1 in DF), they care instead about hovering, endless vertical takeoffs, and surgical in/out gameplay for new content (they don’t care about it when the content is old, which is why they give flying late in expacs when the content is old).
