Well one of the devs said they wouldn’t nerf anything, just buff everything else.
I mean, pics or it didn’t happen, lol.
To be honest with you I swear I seen it, but I don’t remember, but I think it was on one of the bullet points about SoD at blizzcon, and im not gonna watch it all over to find it.
That doesn’t sound right. “Oops, we accidentally gave X class an ability that does an unintentionally high amount of damage, what do we do, we said we can’t nerf anything!” “Well guys, guess we’re giving everyone nuclear weapons.”
Yeah I know it don’t sound right, but I swear I seen it, and was thinking the same thing, but I was like well it’s blizzard. Technically i dont think they lied cause i’m being told other pets are doing crazy DPS now. Like 20 more DPS more than scorpion was.
This would thematically and mechanically make zero sense.
The fun is in finding openings where you can do so. Pretty much a defining challenge of casting as well.
Okay well that was before Aggrend, the big boss of SoD, said they have looked at melee hunter as primarily a melee weaving build in the recent community council video.
Yup. I had tho explain to a guy parsing would be super easy if you didn’t have to think and plan your movements. The only reason parsing high is satisfying is when you earn it. Positioning so you can move as little as possible without failing mechanics is a skill.
Seen a guy face tank the last boss cone because “he didn’t want to ruin his parse”… homie you can’t do DPS if you’re dead.
That’s fine, I just don’t want them to force BM hunter or MM to have to melee weave. Survival build can melee weave to their hearts content.
Same reasoning a number of Ret paladins enjoy Seal Twisting, but in your words that’s le degenerate.
Inb4 cognitive dissonance.
Don’t melee weaving if you don’t want to…. It’s OK to not be the best one in the raid…
If you think you are one of the best players, you should be able to adapt.
If you can’t adapt to the meta build, you are not the one of those best players.
Which one applies to you?
I agree with your whole post, if melee hybrid is forced into the meta, will just park my hunter.
The difference is melee weaving doesnt require an addon to do, you wait for your shot to go off, hop in to auto and raptor, then move back out to resume shooting. Its also not based of what was originally an unintended mechanic
You might clip an auto here and there, but you dont straight up waste mana and gcds on missed timing like you do with seal twisting if you dont have an addon to do the timing right
Addons help with Seal Twisting, but one’s weapon swing time is static, you can mentally time it with practice. I don’t know why this is so impossible to comprehend.
If I can time my Deagle shots to the beat of Stayin’ Alive in Counter-Strike, then timing seal twists every 3.2-3.6 seconds (depending on weapon speed) with a .4 window is forgiving by comparison.
I generally see hunters who max melee-weaving use swing timers too even though it technically isn’t required. I also haven’t seen confirmation of melee-weaving having been intended, but both it and seal twisting received Blizzard’s support.
This just reeks of what I called, cognitive dissonance, likely due to personal bias.
Except its not static in pvp where people are constantly dipping in and out of range, or when you get an attack speed buff, or need to do mechanics that involve moving away from the boss, or proc a parry that resets your swing timer.
Paladins don’t have Flurry. Warchief’s Blessing can be accounted for if one is planning to run with it.
PvP shenanigans and parry procs are also why I stress the importance of not relying on a swing timer along with losing game sense if one does.
Right, but seal twisting NEEDS to be perfectly timed with a swing timer to work, no other action in the game requires precise timing to achieve. Timing might IMPROVE your dps, or bad timing might reduce it, but seal twisting is the only binary of pass/fail on timing
0.4 window is quite forgiving, and you can mentally track the swing time. With Verigan’s Fist for example, I literally just maintain a 3 second count as it falls within the 3.2 swing speed. Are we just going to loop back to points I’ve addressed ad nauseum?
that’s because you have room temperature iq.
You’re straight up not going to have the GCDs to twist by 50
And you’re high if you think otherwise
Not running DS, I’ve been able to just fine. Paladins likely aren’t receiving any more offensive abilities from leveling since we’ve got our kits.
