Blizzard hire me, i'll work for free

My first priorities would be:

1- fixing all dwarves two handed weapons clipping on the ground
2- fixing all weapons clipping through cloaks, all races
3- remake all axes and make them as real weapons not current tiny toys which barely resemble blades
4- make enhancement feel like a melee class through significant thunder/tornado melee strikes, we barely can see any difference from current enhancement and elemental
5- hunters will counter rogues efficiently, like they are suposed to do

What experience do you have that makes you think you can do a better job?

The fact that I question these points as something relevant already makes me superior to those currently responsible for these issues.

But my suggestion is that I do this work for free, then we can put one material next to the other and see which is better. If it really isn’t better, Blizzard has nothing to lose.

You already disqualified yourself from the position.

Go offer to be an intern. You’d probably be amazed at how little you could do as a developer because you are being constantly called into meetings. An intern actually gets a chance to do the (trivial, unprioritized) work you want to do.

So you can work for free. Peanuts at least.

The fact that you have no experience is the fact.

I bet big that I have more time with Warhammer and Warcraft than most Blizzard employees.

But my point is not to discredit their work, my objective is to improve warcraft.

Painting miniatures doesn’t make you a professional.

Modeling equipment that crosses the floor or clothing is not the work of a “professional”.

Oh you’re going to solve clipping huh?

How do you propose to do that? Move the way the axe is held? Oh, but now those other axes are clipping. Create new animations for each individual axe? There are 17,000 axes, get started bud.

Create a physics engine with collision detection and realistic fabric? With WoW’s engine? Good luck with that (though . . . if a guy can dream . . .)

I mean other than one being a caster and one being a melee, what are the differences in deed.

Yes, i would change positions one by one. I’m willing to do that.

I suggest you download a free model app- Daz studio is perfect to learn on- follow some tutorials on creating basic clothing ( plenty on you tube)

Then actually make something, rig it ( this means build the bones to allow it to move) place on free model. Sit model on free chair- observe massive clipping. Fix it. Move model to sit on horse- observe massive clipping, fix it.

This will teach you the actual strange difficulties in ‘clipping’, and how difficult and time consuming it is to deal with.Multiply difficulty by Blizzard using old code with thousands ( millions?) of armour models, x likelyhood of artist getting bean counters to agree, oh yeah, lets spend time and $$ on fixing dwarves 2 hand clipping—

What are your credentials?
Have you done a mockup of your suggestion in X3D or through a render of your own design in say Blender?

I was about to suggest the same thing.

One can’t texture in it, or create meshes, can edit them to some extent with the geometry editor tho. Very simple “delete this” kind of stuff

but can build skeletons, weightmaps, and get a rudimentary skill with how shaders and rendering engines work.

add blender(free) it has all the tools needed to create the meshes
Gimp is free and one can make the textures with it

I used a tool called Truespace back when I was toying with modeling and game development as a hobby.

Never really got into it though

Aww, it’s discontinued: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TrueSpace

I’ve been working with integrated systems for decades, i guarantee that after 3 days of training with the software used by Blizzard and another 1 week of working, I’ll adjust the positioning and size of all two handed weapons so that no dwarf has his weapon crossing the floor.

So, how many years of Software Development do you have?

I’ve been painting Chaos Marines since before you were born!

Alright… uh, are you familiar with any kind of 3D modelling software?

I just told you, I’ve been painting Warhammer Figurines since you were in Diapers!

What are your salary expectations?

$0.00 annually.

You’re hired!!

Is not 3D modeling.
