I just started this stupid ring quest today, and I can’t help but think, haven’t we done this before? Here we are again, eh Blizzard? Y’all really have run completely out of inspiration and ideas. Maybe it’s time for management change @Microsoft
It’s a teeny island expedition map that only feels less stifling because of underground areas and mountains, but it would probably feel even more mind numbing with flying somehow.
Aesthetically it is pleasing. Disappointed there is no type of herb, mining or fishing nodes though.
Surprised that some of the mogs available are good… most don’t probably even know there’s a pink bikini in there somewhere… things really are jumbled and all over the vendors.
The circlet, citrines and how it all jives… wasn’t thought out well either, which turned a lot of people off of everything entirely too.
I think an fitting idea for a powerful item would have been multiple chain quests tied to the anniversary that saw us go back into the old world, old dungeons and old raids. That is how the ring could have been created and it would have say 1700 of every secondary stat and 500 of a primary stat or so based on ilvl.
Then the new island could have been just for the citrines and they would have been for special procs.
That would have tied the last 2 patches together and made the anniversary/ring more exciting.
Only if these encounters scaled up, so we can’t just go 1-shot blasting old raids for something that is powerful at level 80.
What exactly were you expecting from a mid-phase patch? Come back in 11.1 to complain about a lack of ideas
Plenty of other games rpg game out there. But you will find all their quests are derivatives of “kill X number of things”, “get x number of things”, “escort”, “talk to entity”, or some combo there of.
So yes, technically we have done this before.
I uttered this very title in 2015.
It’s Forbidden Reach 2.0
Without the annoying tower.
I actually don’t mind it, quick grind brought in for proper targeted catch-up.
Alts are having a ball! Just finished my 8th complete tier set.
Honestly, I haven’t really been visiting often to the Siren Isles since I collect what I wanna collect. ![]()

Yes of course. It would be content for max level. Chromie time or whatever mechanism they need to use.
I would find having to travel all over to be even more annoying.
I’d do it because its an upgrade. But I would be in the same exact mindset as the current siren isle. “I want this over quickly”.
There could be portals to said places. Just a nostalgia trip for the 20th anniversary.
I don’t think anything could be as annoying as a ring that’s useless for half of a week and then the when it’s changed the best gems need to be farmed because one enemy keeps bugging.
Dear diary. I had to quest to get something in a video game LOL
Its not really supposed to be a 20th anniv event though.
Yes I know. That’s why I said I would have changed it to freshen it up from the same old grind an island routine.
You’re clearly missing the point. Did you play Dragonflight, where they released this exact same content with the exact same grind to level up some stupid ring?
microsoft tends to be very hands off with its acquisitions.
Not really sure what everyone expected. Its a video game…an RPG that is pretty much nothing but questing and killing stuff 99% of the time.
Takes me back to every other special item. The ring in WoD, the cloak in Pandaland.
Eh. It’s essentially a free legendary. Atleast ugrading it literally takes like 3 minutes.
