Gear scaling is a percentage. You gain, but not as much as you think. You have to outgear the scaling. That’s a well known fact.
Ok. Doesn’t change my point.
This is also a fact.
210 is not bad for a casual player, when taking into account how scarce gear is these days. It seems everyone issue at the moment is to little reward for the time invested in the game.
Blizzard did trough a bone to M+ player and hinted about making change to raid and world drop loot (on Twitter). Hopefully we all don’t have to deal with this terrible situation much longer.
Actually I don’t even know why I said no, because casual solo players can already get competitive gear by smashing their keys at random and getting 1600 RBG and doing low level keys for vault.
Casuals can get competitive/good gear, you just have to do the content associated with that gear. Being casual doesn’t mean you are unable to complete said content. Being casual also doesn’t mean you should be handed everything or allowed to put forth less effort then those doing the content at a hardcore level.
If you want to faceroll the content that contains said gear you’ll have to wait a tier or two.
But you can get ahead with 210. But you cannot get 210 from any world content. Covenant gear is 197. Some classes like demo locks need much better gear because of dps ramp up time and turret requirements to cast. You pull a group of elites in the maw as a turret, with average gear and you are toast.
I’m an older player and have no desire to play like a raider or dungeon player, but doesn’t mean my time playing open world should be that much more difficult.
I don’t care if dungeons and raids scale gear to 1000. But gear available to explorers should have upgrade paths on a consistent basis to make the game in the open world not just tolerable. But enjoyable. We don’t care about our dungeon or raid dps. You all can fight over that.
random bgs dont
Because they aren’t rated? ![]()
But you cannot get 210 from any world content
Not seeing a problem here.

If you dont want to do harder content, you dont get as many nicer rewards. Thats how it works.

200 ilvl is more than enough for open world content.
You are basically asking for heroic raid quality gear to be given to you. Defeating the entire purpose of multiple forms of content.
well lfr is afkable aswell soo
Being casual also doesn’t mean you should be handed everything
Nobody said that. Just a workable upgrade path that doesn’t have a hard stop. May take us a long time to get an upgrade, but at least it would be there.

Then you won’t be getting the gear that is associated with that content. Just as it is with life you get out of the game what you put into it.

If its open world content, its being handed to you.
I don’t care if it takes longer. It just means its being handed to you slowly.
Just because you refuse to play multiple aspects of the game, doesnt mean that gear should be handed out. Regardless of the speed.

Would you stop your dungeons and raids if they said 213 is good enough for raids and dungeons. Nope.
Would you stop your dungeons and raids if they said 213 is good enough for raids and dungeons. Nope
They literally do that right now.
They say “if you only do heroic raid content, you only get heroic raid content rewards”.
No different than anyone saying “if you only do open world content, you only get open world content rewards”
Casual solo player should be able to get competitive gear without having to do pvp. Mythics or raids. There is so much more to the game than that crap.
So you want competitive gear without ever doing pvp, m+ or raiding?
I’m not sure I agree that there is so much more to the game than those activities. What else is there to do?? You want competitive gear for fishing??
They literally do that right now.
No, that are changing it for mythics. The whole point is that everyone wants their content to become easier. So they can explore into more difficult areas and so on. I can see it’s only mythic plus and raiders responding, so to deaf ears. Thankfully there are a lot of casuals as frustrated, so hopefully there will be changes. Gold night

There is a gear hierarchy. There always will be, Thrall willing.
Its Risk vs Reward. its a basic MMORPG concept thats been how things worked since the early days.
The bigger the “risk” the bigger the reward.
A mob that takes 20+ people to kill will give a better reward than a mob that takes 5 people to kill, which in turn gives a better reward than a mob that takes 1 person to kill.
Why? because a mob designed for every class/spec/person to solo is inherently easier.
This is how the world works. I sincerely hope it doesn’t change.
210 gear IS competitive gear.
If you want to play a game that gives you the best gear in the game for just…existing…which is what would have to happen in an open world progression system. It couldn’t be difficult, by default…
I hope WoW never turns into that.
Casual solo player should be able to get competitive gear without having to do pvp. Mythics or raids.
If you aren’t competing, you don’t need competitive gear.
And that comes from an actual casual solo.
There is so much more to the game than that crap.
Yes, there is.
But you don’t need ‘competitive’ gear for it.
This a video game not the real world. I get having to work for things in the real world but when it comes to video games that doesn’t need to apply. That said
There needs to be another progression path outside of rated, mythic plus and raiding. Even unrated only goes so far and after you reach a wall you have no reason to continue. Same with covenant gear.
Either bring back legion/bfa emissaries or bring in a vender with currency we can get like the argus crystals and broken shore vender.
My sub ends in 28’ish hours after a 16 year uninterrupted sub. Ever since WoW went retail.
Nothing for me to do anymore. Raiding isn’t an option. PvP, not my thing. There is nothing to advance me anymore and to those who say if you can’t do the endgame content you don’t need the improved gear, that’s BS. MMO’s, if not every video game, is about getting the best of the best gear and whooping butt.
It’s not a whole lot of fun killing trash for little nuggets of anima with the crap weapons that the RNG blesses us with and more often than not, what drops is worse than what we already have or isn’t for our spec. Casuals deserve better gear, it will only take us longer to get it and it won’t look at pretty as you mythic stuff.
It will be about a year before Blizz remembers the little people and does it customary patch to make things “easier” or to roll out their catch up mechanics. We just have to wait that year, either in the game or doing something else.
