Like how they can ruin something that perfect.
I don’t understand what they wanted to do.
They had this highly charismatic character in the whole history of this game. Then suddenly in BFA they decided to turn her from this honorable ‘For the Horde’ leader to something nobody knows what purpose does it have.
Then suddenly in SL we learn about something called jailer and the mess keeps adding up on the mess. Oh and in between BFA and SL, Nathanos got deleted and only old god knows why.
They also forgot an entire race ‘FORSAKEN’ only exists for the banshee queen and without her they might as well delete the entire race.
We have now a full Junk yard the developers think they can call ‘lore’. Total trash and I am sorry for using this word due to the lack of better one that describes what we have on hand.
The entire thing is a mess. Unfortunately Blizzard dug themselves in this place because they keep listening to social media heroes, and never ask themselves about us who plays the game.
Now I cut all news as I have little to no interest in the expansion anymore. So I am shocked that they will make her raid boss. Because social media heroes asked for it.
I am certain she will pull another Jaina however I will not be surprised if she did not and then few months later they retcon and bring her back to life when they understand they cannot remove her without removing the forsaken.
Two of my undead loving friends unsubbed. They will just keep waiting for TBC, I might as well join them where we still have true forsaken and half better horde.

I mean, you’re right that they screwed up colossally with her. But IMO, she hasn’t been a good character since WC3, and was actively detracting from the story by Cata.

Yeah I don’t understand why everybody thought she was a good character in World of Warcraft at all…
I agree she was only good in Warcraft 3

Sylvanas is going to pull Tyrande down with her. This whole “vengeance” plot line doesn’t fit the character they’ve built since WC3.
i think making it parallel some book was kind of the damaging point.
the original minds behind the lore all left, so now i think it is following some author? i’m not 100% certain on that, since i’m not the biggest lore nerd, but that’s what it seems like.
it does feel this story’s progression is similar to what went down game of thrones where their author got rich, and stopped writing books…so the screenplay people were just kind of…left in the dust and improvising. cuz this story is all over the place. they need to chill with it, step back and focus on the game imo…that would give them time to work on the story without it feeling so rushed and corny.

I don’t think we have the same writers that’s doing the storyline during Wotlk. We just got these other writers putting in their own version of WoW characters now.
“Little Lion”
Who other then the Forsaken like/trusted her?

I’ll agree that the Dev’s collectively mangled the character. Sylvanas had a lot of potential as a dark side for the Horde. Something the Devs could have used to maintain a certain degree of tensions with the Alliance over.
As she stands now? She just f** material for “dead attracted people” and hack writers.
She needs to die for good/be deleted. Tools should never outlive their usefulness.

I think people that are confused about Sylvanas have forgotten or not yet experienced the things she has done and been through leading up to now. Sylvanas has known about the Maw since she fell off Icecrown Citadel and died. We know Helya has connections to the Maw and jailer and Sylvanas was making a deal with her in Legion. All of what you see happening now with Sylvanas is a culmination of everything that as happened with her probably since WOTLK but its involving every aspect of her character. Could it all have played out a little better? Probably. But we’re at a point where we simply don’t know where the story is going and who will still be around when SL is over. I will say what Sylvanas is trying to do with the jailer right now goes in line with her view of life and her struggle with hope. Anduin sees a piece of Sylvanas that is her humanity still alive inside of her despite all she has been through and that is where things are going to get interesting with her story going forward.

She was okay-ish from WC3 -> WotLK
Cataclysm dialed up the villain tone a bit much
Legion she was terrible and contradictory
BfA and SL almost meme levels of bad writing

I have a friend that would just go along with the story just to see Sylvanas ending before she finally unsub, she said this at the start of Legion, little did she know that Golden would string her along for almost 5 years now.
If Golden and Danuser consider themselves a good writer, just finish off Sylvanas and start creating their own character.

Since when was Sylvanas “honorable”? The ‘for the Horde’ was purely to incite the Horde to throw themselves at the Alliance and get slaughtered. After which she didn’t hesitate to do an Arthas and raise them as mind-controlled skeletons. I think my kitten has a stronger sense of honor.
There is nothing wrong with adding story events to a storyline. It’s the same as adding chapters to a book, or volumes to a book series. You are telling a story that grows and changes over time. I’d be a whole lot more incensed if everything stayed static and nothing ever changed.
Sylvanas seemed quite happy to have that happen, from her conversation with the loyal player at the end of BfA. Ah Forsaken, too bad, moving on.
Less Forsaken in the game I say! Tell 'em to come back and make a Gnome, be the envy of their real friends!
PS: Sylvanas has a lot more growing up to do and a few more dimensions to add beyond the rather shallow faction leader that spend most of the last few years sitting on a chair at the bottom of Undercity. I look forward to seeing it.

Steve Danuser makes Metzen look like Tolkien.

Especially when his basis for a good character was “we got the voice actor in for bwonsamdi and he was really good then the people liked it too so of course we had to keep him going”
Like ugggh just hire a professional writer who can write a decent narrative already

Heard of “inspiration” have you? That spark a creative person gets when they are working on something with a particular plan and then there is this “zap” moment and they see further potential and a different direction to go in?
I say bravo to Steve Danuser for having the creative integrity to let his characters change beyond original intentions.

If your ‘zap moment’ is how people react to a voice actor then I’d wager thats a market analysis, not creative inspiration.
Are we talking about the same Sylvanas here?
Like, I can’t say really back in time like WC games or the expansions that came before I started playing, maybe then she was a great character, but the Sylvanas from Legion to now has always been a pretty bad character overall :v
I think people just drool over her because they think she’s hot?
