If you are using questie you probably have auto turn-in and auto accept turned on. When you go to pick up the Violet Eye reward you choose 1 of 4(?) quests which awards you the ring you wanted, not the usual select your reward. Because of this, people are receiving the spell power ring on accident.
Now searching through the internet I come across many others from 10-12 years ago that had the same problem. They ALL STATE Blizzard will swap out the rings, no big deal at all, just to contact a GM, everyone that has made this mistake has done it. Fast forward to today and the response I received from the GM was,
“unfortunately we want decisions made to impact gameplay and keep the classic experience.”
It’s going to ruin the experience for replacing the wrong reward I didn’t even get to look at? …Really?
There was no decision made on my part, it was an issue with an addon. It’s happened to almost everyone with Questie. If you are playing a caster thank god it chose the right ring for you. I know you can swap the rings at exalted but that’s far away and the rings make a huge impact at the moment. I find it really crappy that they won’t swap out the ring, their reasoning behind it, and the fact that they used to do it.

I find it extremely annoying that they won’t swap quest rewards as well, but it is what it is. At least this one you can actually fix yourself.
I have to say, though, almost half my gear is from quests and some of those pieces are pre-raid BiS. Seems like a bad idea to be automatically turning in quests when you really need rewards.

Imma gonna let you finish but seriously dude? Why would you use the Quest Auto-turn in when many ppl on forums, reddit and even the add on page tell you to turn it off because it leads to bugs and mispicks like this. it’s been a thing since the first patch of Classic.
I hope an actual GM can fix it for you as the add on chose it for you, but turn that setting off ASAP in Questie’s settings.

I have learned my lesson with the auto-turn in, it will be turned off from now on due to this situation. Regardless, that doesn’t change the fact that this situation won’t be thought about until it actually happens to you. It’s not like I’ve ever asked to swap a reward before. I would at least hope there would be a 1 time grace swap especially for a decision as impactful as these rings. I get it was stupid to have auto-turn in on but I mean… c’mon.

Actually, the first time I had an auto turn in addon in retail the first thing I thought was, umm no ty, it might select the wrong reward.

I get how important it is to save 0.3 of a second instead of clicking on the item you want but the solution seems to be turning off auto turn in of quests. I realize that over the course of the game that 0.3 secs adds up and it might take you 6 minutes longer to reach 70 but it might be worth the sacrifice

Making an honest mistake vs using a third party addon for an advantage and using it improperly are two different things. They might be sick of assisting players using addons.

2nd guy is 3rd party that copy and rearrange previous guy response
3rd guy rinse and repeat
4th guy is at the tope of the 3rd party customer service

Blizzard’s support is a shallow husk of what it used to be. Avoid needing them as much as possible.
NEVER use an auto turn in. Btw I finally picked up questie and it doesn’t auto pick up or turn in by default. So why would you even have that on?
