The High Elves already exist. They are on the Horde side. They are beautiful and radiant with golden eyes. That show the devotion of renewed faith.
Alliance got Space Elves and Space Goats. They love space and everything it has to offer. Even dabbling into dark forms of void magic they are not suppose to. Don’t ask me why Alliance has got obsession with space but they do.
Do people dislike space that much? I’m a little jelly to be honest. Horde only got the orcs. Work need doing orcs. It would’ve been nice to have a more sophisticated space race for the Horde but that is fine. I don’t mind me some big muscular looking green dudes. At least the Horde have all the elegant elves.
Probably the all mighty High Elves that reign supreme over all elves will hold some type of significance in space? Who knows, we don’t have much to work with on the Horde side compared to Alliance. So no they don’t get the Hordes High Elves. You can make Void Elves look like normal elves from customization but they will never be the real thing.
Well, while I think a lot of the art and mock ups I’ve seen are great, most, if not all are done by people who do these things more as a hobby. I think the artists at blizzard could work from those and push them further easily enough.
(Commentary): Its not bad. Admittedly I might just be in favor of the Alpha models since they were more heavily based off of the Night Elf skeleton, and also, if High Elves were made playable, the most sensible place for them to come from would be Dalaran, and I could see High Elves from a more scholarly city having that thinner, less muscular frame. They should have less active lifestyles than the Horde’s Blood Elves. I’m aware there are High Elves from various lodges, of course, but there doesn’t seem to be much of a lore reason for High Elves to be more muscular than Blood Elves.
(Speculative): Those wouldn’t be bad Half-Elf models though. Granted I’m also of the opinion that Half-Elves would be a good alternative to High Elves, so long as the bulk of Alliance High Elf NPCs in game were changed to Half-Elves, especially in the Silver Covenant.
… I hate to say this but the more people want these the more I hope they don’t arrive.
Because I… really don’t think you get WHY they’re not in the game. There’s lore, sure but as many have pointed out Blizzard break lore all the time.
The problem, as I see it, is what you want from high elves is ‘generic elves 101’ - e.g. the kind of stuff you find in like… EVERY Korean fantasy game, EVERY generic lord of the rings clone etc. Blonde, pale skinned… hopefully with wizards and unicorns.
And like… what about wow screams blizzard like putting generic stuff in their games or have since Warcraft 2 (when the creators were around 20)? Blizzard want to put their stamp on orcs (green and noble), on goblins (techno freaks), on gnomes (again… techno freaks not sitting on toadstools), werewolves (noble british refugees), demons (space goats) etc. Even dwarves and humans feel like wow dwarves and humans complete with guns/cannons and griffons.
So they put their stamp on elves so they’re recognizable as blizzard elves - all four types of them. And people have spent years wanting generic elves instead. I know if I was a creative in the wow team I’d find that… very depressing.
