Blizzard DOT com recent UX/UI update feedback

Just a bit of feedback regarding the recent Blizzard DOT com UI/UX update to the Header component and forum scrolling behavior. Certainly hope something can be taken away from this for improvements.

To start with the Header component I’d like say that the sticky header idea is a great one. Absolutely see the UX win there and have implemented many in my Frontend career. The design however is for lack of a better way to put it… jarring. The NavBar has a bit of opacity allowing for brighter colored “covered” elements to be slightly visible through the NavBar but the SearchBar does not which causes dissonance between the two. The padding between the Search and Nav bars is very distracting. Seeing unreadable sentences between the Search and Nav bar is undesirable to say the least.

The new forum behavior when navigating into a large post and being snap scrolled to the bottom of the post is a bit nauseating. It feels like an accessibility concern, maybe even a warning about it.

I have to disagree. Websites implementing sticky headers without any way to hide or unstick them is one of the more annoying trends in web design. It is almost always annoying and rarely adds worthwhile value (including in this case).

Agreed. There is absolutely nothing on that bar so vital that it needs to be in your face and taking up screen space all the time. No website has ever been made better for having a floating header like this.

This stupid change may just get me to abandon the forums for good. The sticky bar is ugly, obnoxious, and in the way.
