So I decided to try retail and when I realized it was 60GB of bull**** I tried canceling it due to it’s sheer size. Guess what? Blizzard doesn’t have a cancel download button even if it would overload your computer. So I did indeed try the retail experience up to level 81.
Not my thing. Too flashy and 1000 different reasons why it’s simply not my thing. It can be someone else’s thing and theres nothing wrong with that but it aint mine.
But what gets me the most is Blizzard’s shady practices. Every download should have a cancel download option and not having that is inconsiderate of your consumer’s property. My point is is once I changed my mind after seeing the file size (which you HAVE TO START THE DOWNLOAD TO SEE) I felt like I was forced to play retail. It’s the whole mindset of “well since I have it downloaded and I cant cancel, I might as well try”
Blizzard look at yourselves lmao
I’ve noticed that the launcher doesn’t have a cancel download button too. Which is super dumb, yeah. But definitely not malicious.
Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.
I guess but back in WOTLK they had a cancel download button back then. How were they “smart enough” to add one back then but forgot in 2020?
I’ve already learned my lesson with the retail WoW dumpster-fire of a game on my last computer build. It will never be installed on any PC of mine ever again. It is beyond saving at this point, and too far gone to ever salvage. It would be easier to just create a new MMORPG from scratch than try to fix that mess.
Next time you struggle with a self control issue like the one you’re going through, try to remember all the weak and poor in Durotar, Mulgore and Tirisfal.
The Sons of Durotan are far from weak.
What stopped you from just pausing the download or forcibly closing the launcher?
Wut? You were forced to play the game just because you couldn’t figure out how to cancel a down load? That’s like saying you were forced to spend all day at the mall because you took a wrong turn on your morning drive.
Also, why even if you couldn’t figure out how to stop the download and really needed to, why didn’t you just disconnect your internet?
Well, there’s a pause button, but i’m assuming that’s not what your looking for.
Yeah, i agree that’s dumb that don’t have that.
How’s leaving out the cancel download button shady?
Oh.
I don’t think shadiness is the goal here, it might’ve been an oversight when they were going though their maintenance.
You wern’t forced to play anything.
Or you can un-install it if you wanted to cancel the download.
Bruh just crash the application.
I love how classic players just assume that everyone agrees with them on the state of retail. If you actually do the content, it’s still a very good game. There’s just more to do outside of raid time.
- Alt-F4, or
- Pause the download, or
- Use the Beta launcher and shut off downloads for Retail, or
- Ctrl-Alt-Del and restart, or
- Ctrl-Alt-Del and shut down, or
- Pull your ethernet cable, or
- Unplug your router
You’re going to read the riot act to Blizz, while sitting on your high horse, having not put an ounce of logical thought on how to cancel a download? All that does is make you look really siily and ignorant.
For real, now? Come on. How about evolving a bit as a human? If you don’t like something, just don’t do it. There’s no need to campaign against things you don’t like, advertising to others how (subjectively) terrible they are.
If you’re a tween, I get it.
Adult? No; you should have been taught better.
In your opinion. I play retail very rarely anymore and do have fun here and there, but the game just isn’t that enjoyable to me anymore personally.
There is absolutely tons of content in retail, but what good is all that content if it isn’t enjoyable doing that content? At least in Classic the content that is there is actually fun to do. Those who want to spend the majority of their time raiding in Classic would do the same in most games, because that’s their goal and what they enjoy.
But there are those who enjoy more than raiding. Some actually enjoy the leveling experience, crafting, questing, raising reps, doing dungeons, bg’s, world pvp, etc. There is more to Classic than raiding. The game is what people make of it, same as retail.
Im working on reps right now in retail. PvP is still a thing, and with war mode, you can find world pvp pretty easy. Every zone has a story to play through with the quests. All the content is still there, people just aren’t doing it and then complaining about the game.
I have tried doing that content countless times for many, many years. I want to like retail, I try to like retail.
I have played this game since early 2005. I got turned off midway through BC and haven’t liked it as much since. Don’t get me wrong, as I said before, I do play still on occasion and have fun here and there. But all in all, I just can’t get into the game no matter how much I want to or try. A person shouldn’t have to try so hard to like a game. Either you enjoy it or you don’t. I don’t enjoy it much anymore, and there isn’t anything wrong with that, just like there isn’t anything wrong with people who do.
I can seem to only bring myself to level through the zones once with a new expansion. Once I hit top level, I don’t have interest anymore because I don’t care for raiding and end game these days. Something about the way Blizzard has done expansions with this game makes me not want to see that content more than once. I never have been able to quite put my finger on why that is. I only know I don’t enjoy it.
Legion is the only expansion I actually enjoyed quite a bit. It’s my favorite one and I put more time into that expansion than any others, aside from BC. Even though I didn’t care for BC, I was in a raiding guild when it launched so I put tons of time into it before I quit.
BFA for me has been the worst of them all. That is the first expansion where I just couldn’t bring myself to play hardly at all. Again, something about the way Blizzard goes about thing that I can’t pinpoint. I was excited the Zandalari were being brought to the expansion. The zones are beautiful, music is great as usual, story and characters are interesting and sometimes very entertaining like Bwomsondi, Jani and others. But the gameplay, sadly just isn’t enjoyable.
To sum it up Celessi. Yes, the content is there and I have tried doing it countless times. But if I’m not having fun, I’m not going to force myself any longer to play or like a game, that’s meant for entertainment.
Before Classic launched I found myself for years leveling character after character after character from 1-60. I would level through each expansion once and go back to old, low level content. Retail isn’t for everyone, just like Classic isn’t for everyone, and that’s ok. People have different likes and dislikes. But I know for a fact with me, it’s not from a lack of trying the content.
Start install.
Pause install.
Go to options thingy under the game logo.
Click on uninstall game from the drop-down.
Select Yes, Uninstall.
Done.
I too downloaded retail wow by accident, now I have to play it for a entire week damn!
Its the same thing with COD I deleted it ages ago and wanted to try out warzone because its free2play turns out you have to download the base game as well if you already own it which is a whopping 200gb and once it starts there’s no way to stop it only pause.
Lol there is a uninstall button, when the client is open, the game that’s downloading press pause. Now look where the PLAY button is, right next to it is the options then click and you’ll see the uninstall option:joy:
Oh boy this is a necro!
