That would be the best case scenario. Ever since The two companies became one blizzard has spiraled downward.
The two (Activision mostly) have become equivalent to EA.
Hopefully someday Blizzard becomes an independent company once more.

It’s not activision that has all the lawsuits. Blizzard has been mostly left to itself since the merger. It’s been blizz responsible for its downward spiral.
Wouldn’t it have to be Activision that ditches Blizzard?
More likely Activision shutters Blizzard and all the devs get let go or get to work on Call of Duty for the rest of eternity.
Oh and the lawsuit is all of Activision Blizzard. The suicide mentioned was an Activision employee and the Call of Duty playing was also another subdivision I believe.
I used to think like OP, but since things have come to light, kinda sounds like Blizz was the trashfire of the relationship, which is kinda crazy to think about. I almost feel bad for Activision.
Never feel bad for Activision or EA
Activision is the only thing keeping Blizz afloat
Technically its Candycrush (King)
That’s not quite how the business works. Activision and Blizzard are separate independent companies. Activision-Blizzard is a third company who are just stock holders that own the first two under their umbrella.
But AV and Blizz have full power over their own games. AvB isn’t hounding down Blizz’s neck telling them how to design WoW’s systems or content. That’s not what they do.
Blizz has also never been independent as before AvB they were owned by Vivendi, who later merged to become AvB. That’s just a financial security decision. Whatever happens to WoW over the years is their responsibility, not the boogeyman people like to think AvB is being.
Also it’ll never happen. Blizz is half of AvB’s actual name and profits. They will not part with that and it puts Blizz at more risk to not have that holding umbrella securing them anyways.
I suspect shuttering Blizzard and transferring their IP to a new company might be the most expedient long term solution.
It appears they’ve had too much cultural rot to be effective and turning that around, especially in California, would probably take longer.
Candy Crush and the annual installment of Call of Duty.
Activision buys Bungie:
Destiny quality declines
Bungie gains independence
Destiny quality improves
Activision buys Blizzard
WoW quality declines
Not saying there’s a correlation but it kinda looks like one.
Disney should buy Blizzard.
If Activision decided they didn’t like money anymore I could see them ditching Blizzard. Diablo 4 alone will likely be a billion dollar earner in the least.
Based on what?
Activision could delete Blizzard from existence if they wanted.
It’s also impossible.
They can’t ‘ditch Activision’ because unlike Bungie, who did manage to ‘ditch Activision’, Blizzard Entertainment is 100% owned by Activision Blizzard. Bungie was simply working with them under contract.
The only way Blizzard gets away from Activision is if Activision either lets them go (which isn’t going to happen) or Activision sells them to another company like EA, Microsoft or Take Two Interactive, and while that is possible, whichever company made an offer would need to offer a LOT to Activision Blizzard for the company, and to be honest, I can’t see that happening. Not right now, not with the lawsuit. The risk is too great.
Did you look at the earnings statement?..Blizzard is by far the least profitable of the three in ABK
Not to mention the IPs have significant value regardless of their current state.
Damn, business really needs to be a required course in high school. The amount of ignorance here is astounding.
