I’m not going to pretend to know anything about lock, as this will be my first time playing one, but is this true is aff doomed to suck now?
No.
I mean they nerfed other classes too. Hellcaller Affliction was kinda god tier pre-nerf lol
Sorry I was being sarcastic, I knew Wither was going to be nerfed lol I was blasting on the beta, and I suck at Aff
afflic is fine idk what you are on about I have been playing it post wither nerfs and its doing good damage
I havnt played beta. For what i understand wither was foing to much dmg compared to our other spells. My question is how do we stand with overall damage compared to other specs. Cause if we are still are low with overall damage they shouldnt have nerfed wither. But if our overall is standard or high then that would be ok
sounds like the solution here is to buff destro
I’m more worried about hellcaller’s survivability rather than it’s damage.
The defensive nodes are truly lackluster in that hero spec.
lock defensives are strong and dont need any help from hero talents
That depends alot on which endgame you’re talking about.
locks are strong defensively in raid, M+, and PVP so what end game are you talking about
With all due respect sir, how would you know if locks are strong defensively in pvp if you do not participate in that endgame?
Soul leech passive regen was halved in value on beta, our wall is still 3 mins cd ( realistically ), dark pact costs max hp which has always been an issue in dampening, our soul link option node was removed , 1min hs seems like a boon only coz no one seems to be mentioning big aoe drains was deleted from the game.
Now i’m not saying lock won’t be good, it’s just that the general idea that locks are tanks only seem to apply in the final season of an expansion , at least in pvp.
The biggest issue i see is that diabolist and harvester both have strong defensive options to compensate but hellcaller is very weak defensively , practically non-existant.
I think with defensive strength being added to so many others, we’re starting to be more squishy than it seems. Passively, we’re fairly durable but a little extra something to press would be nice every now and then or optionally shorten the CD on some others.
There’s a few small ways they could improve our durability.
- Make Mortal Coil grant a shield instead of, or in addition to, the heal (10% heal/10% absorb is good too).
- Bring the UR CD down to 2 min by buffing Dark Accord.
- Bring Abyss Walker up to 8% instead of a 4% DR.
- Finally fix the Sweet Souls healing bug for people consuming it that aren’t on your server.
- Reduce the self damage on Burning rush by half baseline.
- Make the Lifeblood node baseline.
- Buff Drain Life healing baseline (make sure this doesn’t get too crazy when buffed with the extra class nodes like Grim Feast).
- Buff Fel Synergy.
- Buff Fel Armor.
- Make Demonic Resilience a 2/4% DR node instead of the reduced chance of being crit. This could be a 1.5/3% node too.
I watch locks who do pvp and know enough of whats going on to watch defesive use and things look ok when put up to other specs/classes.
Right, sounds good to me!
Pretty cool ideas, I do agree warlocks as a whole feel a bit squisher than they did in the past.
As to how to fix it, I’d have to look and think on that more but solid ideas you have here.
If they continue the path they’re on for affliction more defensives need to be added or dmg faster and/or ramped up. I had one real request that unending resolve that has a 6 sec immunity to push back and snares add DK grip to it as well. DK’s for too long have had an “I win” button for never ending grips to try and kite. It’s just one idea anyways
From a PvP perspective, nerfing dps defensives and self healing is good. It gives more value to healers, and reduces the need for every dps to have a kill window based on +X% dmg for 10 seconds. Increase healer reliance, nerf healer mana, and now you have a game where consistent play, positioning, and teamwork matter more than they have.
Why Im running SPriest for the first time since Wrath.
