Blizzard damage is so low

How is something that shares the name with company that made this game can be so pathetic.

M+15 - Blizzard is 4% of total dps, and blizzard is casted twice with every frozen orb. You could farm dungeons in classic with it alone. And now ragefeather trinket does more damage than core frost mage aoe ability in aoe environment (ragefeather is 4.9%)

tbh entire tree needs a rework. It’s dogwater.

Blizzard in pvp is only cc, not damage.

Blizzard is just a tool to get Orb off CD. Both were gutted in a previous patch.

Tbf Blizzard logic is strange lately.

  • They are named Blizzard and Blizzard is one of the weakest AoE damage abilities in the game.
  • Dragonflight is the elemental based expansion and the two most elemental classes (Mage and Shaman) receive the least attention from Blizzard.
  • Blizzard wants abilities to have counterplay and then introduces new Tranquility PVP talent (like immune to everything) and makes Evoker’s Emerald Communion additionally immune to disorients, so pretty much immune to every CC.

Maybe they have some reasoning for that, but from side all of that seems very strange.

It’s not meant to do damage. It’s not how the class was designed. Your blizzard overall also seems a little low which tells me you’re not casting enough either.

You should be casting blizzard as much as possible on multi-target to get orb out and just nuke everything with lances and frozen orb. You want to efficiently clear procs as much as possible during this period while maintaining blizzard uptime so that you can keep orb and lances rolling.

I’m consistently pulling top DPS in 2300+ ratings. Frost is all about optimization and managing your procs. If you aren’t pulling numbers it’s because you’re not playing optimally at all times.

Frost has a pretty relatively simple rotation. Instead, what makes frost harder to manage is positioning and keeping that rotation as close to 100% as possible. Not casting for more than 2 seconds on icy veins can actually substantially hurt your dps.

Sorry for the long post I just see a lot of people struggle with frost for what they see as a simple class. It’s actually a lot harder underneath the surface.
