FF14 is more popular than WoW now. It’s probably the most popular sub based MMO in the world.
And yeah, it’s casual. Just like Wrath. WRATH WAS ORIGINALLY DESIGNED TO BE MORE CASUAL. Are you sure you were here before?
And WoW has half of that, so…thanks for supporting my point I guess?
This 24 death knight is bananas
Finish your starting area bro! Lol
It might be for “casuals”, but WoW is a casual game. This is why it is so popular and was so popular in Wrath. You might hold the believe that WoW as a casual MMORPG is against what pre-WoW MMORPGS were, but it makes no sense to claim WoW itself and especially Wrath was ever like this.
WoW is not Everquest or Ultima Online or FFXI or even Ragnarok. It’s a casual experience that reinvented the genre to appeal to a wider audience. The casual nature of the game is not the part that people don’t like about modern iterations of the game.
Wrath also stagnated the game, it climbed until phase 1 wrath then went downhill till cata launch, then dropped down because the wrath players who stayed couldn’t do mechanics without AVR and the people who felt insulted by the multitude of low effort catch up gear. The term we usually use eludes me… low effort gear.
Wrath is WoWs peak sub numbers, but it rides tbc success
The numbers climbed throughout Wrath’s life cycle and didn’t even stagnate until ICC started getting old, let alone start dropping until a short time into Cataclysm. Seriously, just stop
Dungeon finder doesnt need to be heroics. Keep it to normals for all phases.
There will only be efficiency gained for the first raid. After that its an xp tool.
I think the game should be social and i get that. When they implented lfr I did not like it. But it did help players that had kids or got a job and couldnt play the game like they used to.
Blizzard has every incentive to do something for that playerbase.
But dungeon finder is very necessary. The positives outweigh the negatives. It should be in the game.
Are you looking at the right graph?
It’s clear as crystal.
Are people seriously concerned that more people might be able to do raids because of RDF in heroics? What kind of asinine gatekeeping mentality is that? They are willing to sacrifice the rest of the entire game to prevent people from doing this?
All so they can stand in town with more epics than the person next to them? I’ve never heard anything so stupid in my life.
Please look up the term market saturation. WoW had reached just about everybody it was going to reach by that point.
And yeah, I remember what happened in Cata with the harder heroics. However, it wasn’t all Wrath babies that quit due to those. There were plenty of people who started in TBC and thought they were good because they could do Wrath heroics. They just got slapped with reality in Cata.
But, regardless of any of that, Blizzard was forward thinking here. The game needed to change. A lot of the old school crowd, the people who came from EQ, DAoC, UO, etc., were starting to filter out naturally anyway due to getting older, starting families, and just not having the time for the old school grind anymore. If WoW had stayed what you wanted, it would be in the same place EQ is in now. A game that’s barely alive. Just a few thousand die hards who’ve been playing for over 20 years.
You clearly don’t frequent these forums enough, then.
I spend a lot of time reading this forums. This just hits different then being actually dumb because it is also intentionally malicious and petty.
RDF is for retail auto bots. Go play your slot machine.
Go play Classic.
I am, thats what wotlk classic is. You’re delusional.
Even in retail. Dungeon finder is used primarily to level toons.
All other aspects of endgame mythic heroic mythic + are achieved through a lfg tool very similar to bc.
Even for pvp rbgs and arenas
Nah man you gotta specify “Vanilla Classic”, context clues are hard for these goons
Just an fyi: RDF was in Wrath.
Glad I could clear that up for you.
You can also remove player power aspects of dungeon finder… where it really is only an avenue to level up alts…
You will still have to look for groups or be in a raiding guild to experience end game content and gain the loot that comes with it.
Dungeon finder gives you and everyone else who doesnt play the game religiously a way to efficiently gain max level, not max gear or ilvl.
If that is the implementation and it is never changed to include catch up or anything with player power it is a good system.
