Have you ever been bored at work with nothing to do? Have you ever asked your boss what you can do so you aren’t bored? Well, if we keep this in mind, it explains most of the illogical changes that WoW undergoes.
Think about it: Blizzard is removing lots of portals and condensing them elsewhere. What it seems like to me is that there isn’t enough work for the developers, so the management tells them to do menial tasks that don’t accomplish anything, but serve to keep the employee busy and not bored.
What this ultimately leads to are lots of little changes that don’t actually matter one bit, but fails to actually lead to meaningful change in the actual game. They are busy doing things that don’t matter, because they are easy and there isn’t enough work to go around for everyone; meanwhile, that time could better be spent on discussion and actually adding things to the game that make a difference in how people view it.
Think about it this way: what is more meaningful? Accomplishing 50 small tasks that have no impact, or accomplishing 1 task that is meaningful. From the standpoint of people outside of the company, 1 meaningful tasks that has a major impact would be much better; from a managerial standpoint, showing how many tasks your employees are doing goes a long way in advancing your own career. This is most likely why we see changes that make no sense in the current state of the game; the management just cares about keeping people busy and doesn’t care about the advancement of the actual game itself and keeping people that have supported their titles for years satisfied.

As for the portals… I just want all amenities and all city portals in every city. Dead cities =/= making the world look populated. It was a bad move for them to ignore all other cities.
I think Blizzard is doing a fine job with BfA and I think you guys need to jump off the hate-train. If you can do a more meaningful job then I think you should take a look at their job openings. Just because Asmongold started playing ESO doesn’t mean WoW is falling apart.

Blizzard has a massive amount of work they are planning on for 8.2. It’s rediculous to thing they dont have work to do.

Contrary to your dramatic, snarky insults, one is capable of liking the game and wanting it to be better, therefore bringing up missteps that can help the game.

I work for a tech company and there is a “massive amount of work” that goes on that is actually pointless. The bigger the company, the more pointless tasks that take place. If you’ve never worked for a large company, you probably don’t understand how much time is wasted with pointlessness.
I do work for a large company. But I think it’s presumptuous to assume that Blizz has no work just based off some stuff they did with portals.
Portals are just an example of menial work done on the game. Listing every single menial thing that has happened when resources could have been diverted elsewhere is pointless; I can dig up more examples if you would like, though.
While I get your point, to be fair, they are revamping the HoA and how it works.
But as for anything larger, that usually doesn’t happen in the middle of an expansion. Huge changes come with new expansions.
And why is something that people have been asking for for years menial? What % of their devs worked on it? Half? 75%? What were Ion’s thoughts on it? What are they cutting from 8.2 so they could do these portal rooms?

This was your statement. Removing portals is a whole other discussion that’s ongoing on about 50 posts, but you’re suggesting that making the portal room in general was “menial work”. One room with all the portals is something we’ve wanted for a long time.

I think he meant that people have been wanting a portal room to make getting places easier from the main city, to reduce portal hopping to get somewhere. I don’t think anybody wanted less portals though. So if there is a portal they are removing and not putting a new one in the portal room then that sucks lol
I do think it’s annoying to have to take a portal somewhere because that’s the place that has a portal to go elsewhere.
