Pservers could restart and regain popularity. Many of the people in Classic are here for PvP. If we can’t have the large scale PvP we demand, people may go elsewhere to get it.
This isn’t just about WPvP, tm and south shore, city raids which is integral to classic but ALSO the AQ Event.
The AQ Event will be many more times demanding. An entire server will be in one location.
Yes I know this. But they could do something to add overhead so when these do happen, which they will, the server can hold up. Like keep a 20-30% compute overhead instead of the 5-10% it likely is.
Hell we could all be wrong and it’s a limitation of the server code itself vs compute resources available. No one knows exactly how their infrastructure works besides the people designing and maintaining it.
What do you propose they do with the extra capacity, however much or little they add, when it’s not needed for the other significant portion of the time?
I sympathize with your position, I just don’t understand how you think we can appeal to Blizzard’s bean counters with your argument. We also have a legitimate concern over the fact that Blizzard has never really done much for pvp, in general. Wpvp would fall toward the bottom of priorities even within the “pvp” realm of concerns.
Keep the extra capacity on reserve for when it’s needed.
The amount of people paying to play… Blizz can easily afford it
This isnt about any of that streamers have nothing to do with it. Large population has nothing to do with it. If you have say 3v3 raids going on the servers can’t handle it, maybe even less.
What do you think is going to happen when world bosses come out?
Bugs also have nothing to do with population. Alot of things arent working as they should in 1.12 state. Check out the bugs thread.
Edit: also layers have nothing to do with it.
Even low pop servers wpuld have this problem.
Blizzard didn’t even contribute any money to the esports prize pool at BlizzCon…
$0 contribution. The prize pool was entirely funded by players.
So we probably shouldn’t assume that Blizzard would be willing to spend extra money on servers.
Then I quit
:T
Well compiled OP.
Especially the known issues list.
Many of us came back JUST to play classic, and are paying an AAA level for a sub. They really need to devote AAA resources and infrastructure for it.
I would never assume such a thing
Bump for visibility. If Blizzard doesn’t fix this and phase 2 remains unplayable, I will unsub and go play where I can get better servers and less bugs FOR FREE.
bump 10 char
#nochanges
Blizzard should dig up or buy some 15+ year old servers to get this game on, no new server stuff.
Who’s “we” and “us”?
I think he might have a mouse in his pocket.
He’s right the video is doctored and probably made by alt-right trolls.
On Emerald Dream retail server, lag like this, and server crashes, happened daily, for years. Blizzard doesn’t care.
Sure, this would most likely offer a superior experience. The OP proved that old school servers running old school blade hardware fare much better than whatever shi te they’re using currently
