Not that I am arguing either way but in the recent Blizzcon they actually mentioned that there is lost data. This was due to the way they dealt with adding in patches. Now there is no specifications as to the amount of data lost or what has been lost but they admit that the patching process during Vanilla was definitely faulty.
1.12. was released in August 2006, it lasted for about 4-5 months. How can you truly believe, that this is Vanilla if the previous 20 months are just ignored? We just asked for the original and authentic WOW, not for a version that slowly prepared us for TBC and opened the gates for people to start raiding outdated content and claim Rank 14 by afk hopping BG´s.
If the Developers can´t give us a true Vanilla game, then they should just let us know and we would accept it. If things can´t be done, then they can´t be. But, if they only give us 1.12., because it´s closest to retail, then that just doesnt sit well with people.
For me, pvp is what I miss today and I want to experience this again. The old raids are still in the game, I can run them whenever I like except for Naxx and ZG. Raiding is not how you get me with classic, i am here for the pvp action alone.
This post has almost 3 times the likes of the Blue sticky.
It’s pretty obvious what the players want.
Some people like blue posts just because they are blue, other people like them because we are getting some information, regardless of what that information is. You really can’t compare because I’ve seen threads on this forum that are saying AV 1.12 is not the best choice with over 100 likes, which is more than the blue post. So try again.
To put it blunty, You ask for Vanilla, 1.12 is vanilla. Everyone has they “Ideal” Vanilla experience. Some it’s 1.12, some it’s 1.5, others it’s 1.8. But it’s all Vanilla.
Has no one here heard about how “you can’t have your cake and eat it too”?
Do yourself a favor and go watch the 2005 Battlegrounds Blizzcon video. You’ll see why they did what the did to AV over the course of it’s existence.
But hey, I’m just a guy who wants to be able to enjoy WoW again, so I’m sure my point in invalid because I’m not fighting against what they are willing to give.
If you enjoy 1.12 AV, and it is as big a part of the endgame as it is for many of us, what is stopping you from playing for all intents and purposes the very same iteration (with arbitrary time limits)
For those of us like me who unsubbed because we no longer had access to certain iterations of vanilla elements, we saw classic as a way to get that access back. Offering us the same thing we can get in retail (but without time limt/reinforcements) doesn’t cut it.
Imagine your company be literally 1,000’s of times bigger than it was when vanilla originally began development and not being able to recreate assets in a game that was made in 1999-2004 by like 60 people lmao
Except it’s not. AV1.12 is not the same as retail.
If you want to argue semantics about the style of play that is incorporated for “winning” then you can’t complain what version they use. You could still Zerg 1.5 as much as you could zerg 1.12.
The play style you want =! the playstyle people want.
If you don’t want people zerging every AV match then force the enemy to confront you. Force your side to engage the enemy instead of avoiding it. You don’t need 1.5 for that.
I wouldn’t mind 1.5 AV, but if you want the 2005 Blizzcon on Battlegrounds, they go over a lot of changes to AV because at the end of the day, players back then didn’t find it fun. You can argue if you wish, but the fact is that 1.5 had more NPCs with more health and it dragged out matches that could takes weeks. While That may be fun for you, there are other players to keep content. If you are not part of the majority, then I’m afraid this may be a thorn in your side for a while.
Lmao force a turtle that you will eventually lose when you could spam runs for honor
It is exactly like 1.12, but with arbitrary time limit and reinforcements.
Then there should be no reason not to do an earlier non-nerfed version. This just in: it is not all about the zerg issue.
Some of us do not want a binary choice of “zerg or turtle”.
I was a player back then and I found it fun. That said the game has changed over the years to it’s current iteration. Blizzard clearly listened to the wrong players.
Wow, thanks for the go ahead on that. Was worried.
But…
“You could still Zerg 1.5 as much as you could zerg 1.12.”
What happened between your first paragraph and this one? Did you have a stroke?
I am not concerned with retail player wants, or those who want instant gratification. Many of us want chess, while others like yourself prefer 52 Pickup. You can get the latter in both of the other BGs and AV in retail.
Those who fought to get classic for over 10 years are not the majority. Blizzard should not be listening to the people who they listened to in the past that caused the game to become a steaming pile.
Huh? AQ was just released and they hadn’t even finished all the talent trees.
1.10 was weather effects. “Vanilla peak” indeed.
THIS is what Blizzard needs to be considering. THIS is the main point we should be trying to push. 1.12 WAS when content started to get dumbed down and parts of the game that the original players of WoW aka the TRUE fanbase witnessed this decline, we saw all of the things we worked for become obsolete and almost handed to the new comers. Then when TBC hit all of our old gear went with it…
Nope… just no…
It kills me that people actually think that because of a blatantly choreographed video.
I mean they take your voice, and it can happen for no reason? You should be able to say s*!t in chat, because people have an option to disable the curse word feature right?
Ideally people can always ignore that person in game. Literally every option is there for people to handle this on their own.
We also really don’t need more devs even concerned about this feature. Devs should not step in between griefing disputes between players no matter how one sided it may be. A game where people are now being encouraged to team up will have plenty of groups of players that can do this to someone just because he talks to his friends IRL in his own party chat with curses and calls them every name in the effn book. It automatically can reference cursing can it not? To what extent? I really don’t know… maybe you know because you’re the only one not saying ignorant things??
looks at your post
looks at thread
Wait, your real issue is with the chat rules then? You’ve always been able to be reported for breaking the rules and the auto-squelch doesn’t stop a GM from punishing you, based on a legitimate report of you breaking the rules.
Edit: This is the wrong thread bro.
My problem is ALSO with the fact a group of people can just right click and report and make a Dev or account level guy spend his time looking at bullsh!t. I want people to whine as much as they want and nothing to be done… because if you get THAT mad during a video game because someone said the WRONG thing to you when you were in the wrong state of mind and got all butt hurt and needed to report someone.
Everyone in this world today is all worried about what the next person said… that’s like level 2 life basics…
People should be able to grief and people should learn to be an adult and ignore them with the plethora of options they have.
Lets say for instance I get in an AV and I say hey guys choke point at galv, or Lets not go full zerg and get this sh!t done B*6%4es… people shouldnt be like
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I had near 100k kills around 1.11 on this toon.
I spent hours in AV. The 1.5 is the best…
Make AV great again.
Still the wrong thread duder.
