Bagnon being blocked is so utterly petty. They want us to use their new UI so bad they are willing to break one of the oldest and most harmless addons this game has ever had. Man I am really mad right now.
It’s not working because the container and tooltip APIs changed in 10.0.2 and jailbrock hasn’t updated bagnon yet. It’s nothing malicious on Blizz’s part.
Well thanks for the heads up. I noticed that guy has a patreon… so he is getting paid to not update?
I totally get that if someone is going to solicit money for their work, they have a greater obligation to the people who pay them (#1 reason I’ve never had a patreon or any donations button), but this was a very rough expansion for addon authors. This is the first one where there wasn’t a program (that I’m aware of) to invite addon authors to the beta. It was also arguably the largest set of UI changes in WoW’s history, only competing against the introduction of secure stuff in BC back in 2006.
While 10.0.0 and its significant changes was on the PTR for some time available to all, 10.0.2 was a whole new set of significant changes that didn’t get on the PTR until after the first phase of the pre-patch. The second phase of the pre-patch went from 10.0.0 to 10.0.2 and basically broke lots of addons that probably took many addon authors by surprise.
And even having access to the beta, there were so many taint and secure button issues (and still are!), that it’s been really rough to keep stuff working.
Addons that are horribly broken by the 10.0.2 patch may take more time to fix than usual.
Last I heard he was working on it, but these Addon were working fine on the Beta so I have no idea what they changed in the 2nd phase of the pre-patch that broke addons that were working on the beta
I looked into looks like maybe some drama going on. Who knows… I downloaded another user fix and its ok now. Hopefully we get an official fix soon.
Theres a bunch of devs who have a ton of patreon subscribers while taking a long time to actually publish fixes. Sometimes months. Its common af. Then you see comments on CF like “I’m going to donate some more in hopes it gets them back sooner”.
- GameTooltip related APIs have been significantly overhauled. Refer to the Tooltip Changes section for more details.
- Many bag container related APIs have been moved to the
C_Container
namespace. Additionally, some of these functions now return structured tables instead of multiple values.
I see, still find it odd that these issues weren’t present on beta
well with all the changes going on, and people like you accusing them of being paid by blizzard (which is a pretty crappy accusation to be honest) is it any wonder some addon authors just go screw it i dont need to put up with this level of crap from users and just leave?
i mean unless youve paid some serious level money to that author for the mod then i dont see you as having any stake in it at all. if you want a mod perhaps try and build one yourself to realise the amount of time and effort that goes into it before you crap on the author.
theres been so many changes over the last couple of weeks i cant keep up but im pretty sure that i had my mod working in all three variants the weekend before prepatch so i thought i was done.
then on prepatch day retail broke in a lot of different ways. its almost like they pushed a version that didnt hit beta or ptr (or it was only there for a day or two).
I used Bagnon so much because it joined the Bank bags and let me move the bank bags and my bags where I wanted them to be. Now it’s so flippin’ clunky and unwiedly that it’s actually making it unpleasant to play. I hope it can be fixed soon. I couldn’t find any other inventory addon to use in it’s stead. Anybody have any good suggestions other than waiting and hoping?
What? I didn’t accuse them of being paid by Blizzard. I originally thought Blizzard made changes to block addons like Bagnon. When it turns out to be a fit by an addon author instead.
This entire thread is a bad hot take… addon authors have day jobs and other obligations.
If you wanna speed up the process, help; clone the repo, fix some bugs, and make a pull request.
Every single thread on this forum is a bad hot take. There’s so many contrarians here that absolutely nothing productive is ever discussed.
Blizzard = Horse
Bagnon = Cart.
Carts follow horses.
Blizzard is under no obligation to ensure their sandbox works with thousands of addons.
It’s always been up to the addon author to meet the requirements of the Blizzard sandbox, not vice versa.
ELVUI has all in one bags working.
Where is the developer having a fit? All I’m seeing is an add-on user having a fit.
Addons break every expansion & it takes time to get them working again, this expansion is worse than most because of the nature of the changes and because the multiple pre-release builds keep adding new breakage. At this point I’m just hoping they don’t roll out even more changes next week.
Exactly. Bagnon is so much more ergonomic than the new UI.
I’ve been using Litebags since it came out. Just as good as bagnon.
