Blizzard Basically Said "No Playable Sethrak"

Going by the Sethrak Toy disclosed for the upcoming BFA Timewalking, it would appear the race Sethrak has been officially walled off by Blizzard despite the numerous amount of players asking for them instead of Mechagnomes since BFA first dropped.

This does imply that Blizzard is indeed listening, but instead of giving them a Dracthyr treatment where custom armor sets override transmogs in-game, they give you a Toy that saddles you with a random Sethrak you can’t choose from. If you wanted a particular Sethrak skin, you have to wait for the Toy to come off cooldown before you can select again since interacting with the Toy’s spire doesn’t give you an option. And if you wanted to keep that model, you can’t; it’ll wear off and you’ll have to use the Toy again. It persists through combat at the very least, but after seeing videos of Ascension taking the model and making it something worthwhile (“Druid of the Fang” venom/poison Feral Druid build), it makes me wonder why these ideas aren’t being lifted or more fanfare was given.

Not a playable race, not even a unique spin on druidism, but a randomized Toy with a convenient cooldown. It doesn’t feel like a reward, but rather a slap in the face from the team as a whole. I guarantee if they put the race as locked-in-store behind a $30 price tag they’d make bank.

Idk why people thought sethrak even had even a remote chance of happening

The bouncy lizards from MoP are better than Sethrak

Your problem for thinking they would even think adding them as a playable race. You disappointed your own self here.

They basically said “No playable Sethrakk” years ago when BFA came and went and Sethrakk were never mentioned again.

There’s toys that turn people into Blood Elves, I hope they’re not out.

Shame. Blizzy acting like a reverse King Midas, dissolving anything they touch from Gold into refuse.

lmao.

Was it not already obvious that playable Sethrak were never gonna happen? It’s either during BFA or not at all. And BFA’s over bud.

I mean we can always suggest things, but I don’t think every race in the game needs to be playable.

They have the lore and everything for Sethraks to be a thing, but like others have stated…if it was to be, it would have happened. We got diaper gnomes instead, gg!

They have the lore and character models to make playable Taunka too, but if that was their big new race reveal players would riot.

I guess more realistically, them not being part of the current story would also make the dev team go ballistic, because they’re so desperate to leave their own fingerprints on WoW.

I genuinely don’t like being the person that says “No, you can’t have that,” but I am really not fond of the “Playable Sethrakk” requests.

There’s basically no Lore reason to have them, they sort of undermine faction identity no matter which way they go. The only people that really want them seem to want them because “Wow, cool unique model!!” and I just don’t think that’s a good enough reason for a playable race. Frankly, Vulpera were bad enough.

Give Alliance Furbolgs. Give us Ogres (and Forest Trolls, too!)

I’d take them if only because they might be very helpful in controlling the Vulpera population and keeping it at a healthy number. Had some rats once, and after I got a pet snake the issue with the rats was resolved almost immediately. :dracthyr_shrug:

I know I’d be the odd one out here, but I’d be so unbelievably pro-Taunka it’s not even funny.

Yes, their moment has come and gone, but they’re still part of the Horde. They are basically the only *Tau-*anything I’d ever play.

Well there’s a twist, and an option I had not considered.

Drat! I was really looking forward to an abduction too!

To be fair, TWW has Sethrak NPCs that are involved with Delves, and I believe they might have been around too in Dragonflight? That I’m not sure about though

Also I do hope they add them as a playable race, it would be very nice to have a new race that isn’t just a 4th Dwarf race.

I want Blizzard to stop dithering and either say “YES” or “NO” to Ogres.

I think there’s plenty of much more lore-friendly options that also reinforce faction identity, honestly.

Taunka, Forest Trolls, Ogres, etc. for the Horde. Furbolgs and the like for Alliance. My God, we could even slum it with Hozen and Jinyu if need be.
