Needing an Authenticator to post your M+ key is very lame. It should be completely optional. What a blizzard thing to do. I remember when Blizzard was the gold standard. Times have changed.
It does suck but so do bots. Then again, having that extra four bag slots is very nice incentive to get extra security anyways.
Oh wait you can still link the key you just can’t edit the message… Yes that totally makes sense because of bots.
You can link a key w/o authenticator, you just can’t put a special title or any comments. To add comments or other requirements, you need the authenticator attached.
I know I just edited my message after I thought about it

I need to speak with the lead dev stat. This isn’t ok. We have a constitution!

You must enter a title. You cannot enter a title w/o an authenticator.
You can still link the key of what it is and the level
You just can’t modify it in any fashion.
Which is a fair compromise considering, You can’t tell the difference between somebody who cant or won’t get an authenticator versus a bot.
You don’t need it. The information is auto populated. You just don’t have custom text. Pick whoever you want, you don’t need custom text to do that.
It’s not auto populated for me anymore.
Try the usual suspects, because the group finder will choose the category and fill the title based off the key in your bags.
- Exit game, delete cache folder, try again.
- Disable addons, try again.
- Do a full UI reset:
A simple reload worked. Thanks for the suggestion.
YAY! Glad it’s fixed! ![]()
I thought the Authenticator was only required to edit the description when listing, I didn’t think it was required to list the key.
EDIT: Oh,
Glad you fixed it.
Blame the people that use bot programs. It’s not Blizzard’s fault people are lazy and stupid, hot topic I know.
/prepares for the flames and the cleansing
you do know this only provided a minor speed bump for them and they found a way around it within months.
this is the same kind of terrible type of argument publishers use to justify denuvo drm.
“people pirate games so we have to use an invasive resource hogging performance degrading drm for our games.”
Yes but it still makes a LOT of them easily targetable (If only Blizzard bothered putting in a filter to immediately nail them down instead of relying so heavily on a half-broken reporting system). And maybe perhaps if people weren’t paying into these scams too.
More importantly, its more about your own security than it is to deter bots. Which is why they did it this way. Sure as hell kept my hacker off my back when it tried to claim my account over the past week.
