Everything worked fine two days ago, and I can still play WOW by using the WOW-64.exe file.
Is there anyway to fix this, I do not want to download a 40gig install?
Try running the scan and repair tool. Restart computer to close Blizzard processes. Right click on the Battle.net desktop icon. Select "Run as Administrator"
It is found on the Battle.net Launcher. Look for "Options" - directly below the Wow-Legion emblem. It is found there.
If it finds errors run it again. May take a couple of passes.

They didn't help me, either. At least you got a reply, though.

I finally reinstalled the game, and it fixed it. And a LOT of other problems, as well. :)
Thank you. This just happened to me and I was literally on the verge of removing all WoW files and folders and re-installing. I’m sure it would have worked but I would have been looking at a 95 gig download…probably would’ve taken a day or two. I didn’t just try hitting install immediately because I was afraid I would be doubling up on files and my pc doesn’t have room for the game twice.
I hit install on classic first and it said 37 gigs initially but then quickly changed to mere megabytes… took like 3 mins to finish and get the play button back. Went to do the same for retail and it had changed from install to update and took even less time to get resolved. I had checked a few other threads and had almost given up hope…Sooooo glad I looked one more time and stumbled across this thread.
