Could be, but also there could be pressure form Activision overlords on this one… Not per say about Classic WoW but maybe Blizzard is hamstrung in that they’re not allowed to have 2 forms of MMORPG IP?
So with that concept this is “Blizzard” HQ attempting to lawyer the system in order to get what they want.
You can however if you want that sort of game system just buy a Raspberry pi 3, and then add the OS of your choice and all the games you want.
A little effort will be needed because some of the emulators are not exactly “Finished” but it’s a very simple project overall and there is a lot of resources on line that can help with the software side of it.
Right now some buddies of mine and I are building arcades (full size) with these system for the use of having all the old arcade games.
you will wish for more layers when you are trying to kill a wanted quest (or literally just tag any mob) and there are 30 people around you spamming tab for the tag. shts annoying. please give us layering . a kill quest will take hours without it.
i am also hoping that with their new layering server tech, big world pvp battles / raids will be alot smoother.
If each layer has a full realm population (3K) it will be just as crowded as vanilla was. Just not as laggy due to tech.
Eh, to each their own my friend. I don’t make the rules they’re coming up with but only trying to provide a solution to the eventual problem come phase 2.
I do think this layering thing is going to be a big advantage for Blizzard in the long run, they may scrap the CRZ and all that other hot garbage in Modern WoW (sharding too) and replace it with Layering; because it’s better.
However to get me back into Modern WoW they would have to roll back Class design to 3.X, hell I heard 4.x and 5.x were also decent.
Given how much an odd Duck 4.x is, I think that’s flat out of the question leaving us with 3.x or earlier and maybe 5.x if they’re married to the “Grid”.
