I’ve gotten maybe 3 (THREE) BG pops between levels 40-66, and in every single one of them, the amount of people that have entered has been too low to keep the match going, and it auto kicks everyone.
In every instance my ques were between 40 minutes and more than an hour. You need to buff BG xp NOW. If you don’t want people queing for BGs while leveling, just remove it from the group finder.
Since I don’t PvP, how does one fix the queue size for it? Can that be fixed? We obviously can’t fix the number of people queueing, but I don’t know if there’s some way to flex it or not?
At level 66 a BG will reward 13450 xp for a win. This is if you A: Aren’t auto kicked due to low lobby size, and B: win. A dungeon will give you 53850, and is nearly a guaranteed win.
Problem is that even if they increase the XP gains from BGs, people level so fast that they would blast through the brackets and you are mostly dealing with the same issue all over again.
WoD, was the last time I actually saw it alive. Maybe a bit in Legion, too. Kinda died off afterwards.
I used to level alts exclusively through battlegrounds- it used to be good exp!
And, you could farm honor for max level sets before you even reached that level.
Low level PvP being dead, is just a symptom of the larger PvP scene as a whole.
We’ve got solo queue for a reason- the scene is pretty much being propped up by that alone.
If you looked in the Rated Battlegrounds panel, it’s almost always dead. Nobody runs 'em anymore, and if they do, they can’t find opposition to play against.
It’s real sad.
Also, leveling is so quick these days- perhaps they should drop low level BGs, as much as it pains me to say.
It was never balanced, anyway. Blizzard only cares about max-level PvP. (If even that, lol.)
I believe the theory is that giving BGs a worthwhile amount of xp would indeed fix the amount of people queuing, as leveling in BGs is incredibly inefficient compared to dungeons.
One interesting suggestion I got by a troll in the pvp section was to make it a 10-70 bracket. I have my suspicions that it would make scaling a lot worse, but, a long with a exp boost, it would definitely reduce que times. And leveling is just that, leveling, no reason to take it too seriously. I got blasted by marksmanship hunters in the 10-39 brackets. Sure it isn’t fun, but I’m not going to just never play bgs again. Plus they could just reduce hunter damage at those levels and 33% of low level BG problems would be fixed.
Edit: a literal troll, not like a forum troll or something.
Generally when I see this, it’s repeated on when 1 faction outweighs the other.
I think them adding “Free-for-All” battlegrounds or something that’s not necessarily Horde VS Alliance but some morally grey faction versus another – and then just split the teams accordingly – would help a great deal with some misbalancing problems.
I’d say a series of practices could HELP it but as for “Fix” – Yeah, like you said you can’t really force people to queue for something
As for the practices to help alleviate the issue, you could potentially have:
Better rewards for PvP
(From gear, enchants or even useable potions for PvE dungeons; until max level)
And an advertising “Bonus Reward” feature for queing as the opposite faction-- Which illusions you to the opposing faction race upon entering … or puts a Halloween mask of an opposing faction race of your character (Such would be done for the faction that’s lacking players to balance out the queue).
I would say open the level range up for lower levels and help scale them to make up for the level-difference — buuuuut my faith in Blizzard balancing stuff, isn’t exactly all too high, especially for non-max level characters So yeah. lol
But the two dot points I listed earlier should at the very least help give good incentive or better team-management in numbers to the situation.
