Blizz- being able to chat with my friends on other servers and, actually, on retail or other games is a great feature.
I think this post is several years too late. But I concur: Battle .Net is grand.
How long did your Wiskee account get banned for?
Probably quite some time if I had to wager.
Not sure why they are so ban happy in these forums. Most other games forum mods conduct them selves in a much more organized and professional way.
I have nothing personally against the mods, but I think they could be a lot more professional about how they handle disciplinary actions.
I went and read the forum code of conduct, and it essentially says that they can ban you for literally any reason what so ever… Keeping that in mind, it’s logical that to assume some people have been banned just because the forum mods determine they’re annoying; even I could agree with the rational, but in reality that’s incredibly unprofessional and is against everything that the parent nation that Activision is a part… Namely the freedom of speech.
I’ve said some pretty snarky things in CD, but the one time I bring that same snark to GD, I got slapped with a 24 hour ban. It sucks man.
That’s the thing, I don’t think “snarkey” or even mean spirited things should be banned…
It’s my opinion that society has gotten soft and because of this people are getting softer by the day…
This is a very bad thing for the video game industry as a whole and they don’t even know it… The reason this is bad is fairly straight forward; when you have soft society of players they are the first to ASK for and beg for nerfs to the content…
In turn the content gets mowed down super fast, and in turn people quit playing because they complete the content way too fast and then complain because Blizzard could not keep up.
100% because Blizzard caved in to soft players who thought things were too rough in game or on the forums.
Its time for the players to harden up, and get back to being gamers rather than complainers…
Making the forums politically correct and soft for the sake of a few care bears is the worst possible thing for us… Some say this is good because it gets rid of trolls, and that’s false because the trolls just take on a new game meta.
You can NEVER rid your self of trolls no matter how you try, so the best way to deal with it is by expecting the society of your gamers to be a lot more hardy and just deal with them on an individual and personal basis rather than expecting mommy Blizzard to take care of them.
Sorry /end rant.
Or maybe it’s time for people to grow up and deal with the fact that public chat channels are no longer a consequence free space to spew whatever garbage they want.
I would generally agree that it’s a bit too easy to get suspended/banned. I’ve received some absurd ones myself. I once was suspended for saying something along the lines of “It doesn’t bother me if people talk about (insert word for a German political party from the 1940s which rhymes with Yahtzee) in trade chat” because it activated the mature language filter. No joke. So yeah, don’t say that word in any context.
But sometimes trolling just gets out of hand and if you actually look at certain user’s posts that’s literally all they do without ever actually contributing anything useful in any discussion.
Free speech isn’t applicable here. It has its limits and does not extend to forums owned by private companies.
What I like about this forum is that Blizzard doesn’t tolerate off-topic posting, like about politics. That’s way better than other sites that allow it but only mod the users they don’t agree with.
Now, what is kinda messed up is being auto-silenced, which would be very detrimental if added to Classic. It wouldn’t be hard to get a few guildies to report your profession competitors to silence them in trade chat for a little while, just to get a few extra gold. Guarantee you it’ll happen.
LOL!

I can’t wait to ask my cross-faction friends when they are raiding. Just so I can promptly take 20 friends and goblin sapper their entire raid after they get raid buffs.
I wonder if blizz will let us invite friends from other servers to our raids?
You already know this isn’t going to happen so don’t bother trying.
Gonna start a drinking game with this. My liver is already making threats…
Freedom to raid invite anyone!
Freedom to vote with my wallet and not give Acti/Blizzard jack if they f this up.
While that is technically true; its against the spirit of the nation that the company resides.
Activision takes for granted the freedom of speech, and utilizes that to their advantage while failing to pass that on.
Now I am not against banning truly bad people from chat or the forums, but the way things are right now it may as well be old Soviet Russia.
A) Every code of conduct says that, for every forum.
B) No, it is not against freedom of speech. Freedom of speech is about the government, not about private companies or private areas. These forums belong to and are operated by Blizzard. If someone walks into any business, anywhere (let’s say a Starbucks) and starts harassing their customers and staff, they’re going to be asked to leave, because their behavior is unacceptable. It’s no different here.
I close by linking the classic xkcd on the topic, because it seems like you need to hear it.

(Delete the spaces, of course.)
(PS - Your other rant is also hilariously off-topic and terrible in many ways as well.)
No, it is not against freedom of speech. Freedom of speech is about the government, not about private companies or private areas.
You missed the entire point, but that’s ok. I hope that some day you understand.
