Blizz physical authenticators

you can possibly download bluestacks android emulator and then install the app on your computer if you don’t want a phone.

Don’t you have phones?

You’re not alone I do not own a cell phone and never will if I can help it. Will use the physical authenticator until it stops working then figure something else out.

I have one that I have had forever too. When it dies i’ll take it to batteries plus bulbs to see if they can change the battery, I love mine.

this is a lie. you don’t own a cellphone??? if you meant a smart phone I would of bought this diatribe.

lmao, this is gonna be missed by the masses

I have a p hone, I just like the physical authenticator as I have used one since they came out forever and a day ago.

Its a nostalgia thing for me.

less this an alt of op, I don’t see where I fit in atm.

cause I get that.

You can use your PC by downloading an Android emulator like Memu. Or you can buy a super cheap phone or tablet. You don’t need to buy a modern phone for a few hundred dollars. How much did the physical authenticator cost you? $20-30? You can get a phone for that cheap if the only thing you need is for it to serve as your blizz authenticator.

I feel your pain. I just got a cell phone about a year ago. I also have an ancient physical authenticator.

Check out Winauth. Think of it as desktop software that simulates the physical key. I use it for several games that do not support a physical 2FA fob.

People are really thoughtless, or worse sometimes.
This rates right up there with “Do you guys not have phones?”

I agree that the majority of the world lives by the smart phone in today’s world, but it is really sad when people make these kinds of elitist comments with no idea of why this might be an issue for some people.

Opening the case causes the token to stop working so battery replacement is not possible.

I had the same problem…I got me an old flip phone and set up the sms thing it text me the codes when needed…I to loved my authenticator I still have it siting here next to me I dont want to get rid of it even if its does nothing now.

I still have my physical authenticator, he’s a good boy.

Does anyone know if you can get the Blizzard Authenticator app to work on an Amazon Fire 7? My physical one is bricked due to whatever Blizzard did to my account to fix a missing character boost.

I do not own a cell phone, I have no desire to own one. I was, however, looking at picking up a tablet and if the Amazon Fire 7 can use the authenticator app, I’ll probably pick one of those up.

Thank you for letting me know.

Though I hate the bubble burst :frowning:

I think there were two related things involved. One is that the number of units sold has been decreasing because many people do own a mobile phone. The other is that Blizzard was never making money on them (more likely a small loss, but the security costs saved made up for that) but smaller runs means higher costs.

I have no idea where they were being manufactured, but there’s a lot of global turmoil right now with trade wars (not just US - China; Japan - Korea one is affecting electronics).

I don’t know, but I do see that there are instructions for loading Android apps, and the Blizzard Authenticator is available as an Android app. So it sounds possible. You would need to have wifi / network access of some sort when setting it up, but as I recall you don’t need it otherwise. You can run the app, get the code and manually type it in - instead of just a single Approve click.

Thank you. I see a few articles on how to install android apps, so I’ll order one and hopefully it works.
