Well as ranged yeah jump sideways but melee have it even easier just jump onto the boss as they exude from him. On top of him is safe.
Seems like a you issue.
WoW has answered it too in the modes that use automatic matchmaking as well. M+ doesn’t utilize automatic matchmaking.
The fact that these people dont understand that major difference gives a little insight on why their groups constantly fall apart.
Lifetime ban!!!
PvE vs PvP doesnt matter in this argument. They already give deserter for dungeon queuing because if you join something you should be committed to the time it may take, especially when the penalty falls 100% on the holder of the keystone.
You have the ability, before the dungeon starts, to investigate the quality of the team and decide if you want to continue, but the leader has no way to know if youre the type of person to bail after 1 wipe currently.
The reason people want players penalized is not for the players that leave after 10 wipes, its the players that leave after 1. The reason they leave after one is because theyre chasing M+ score, they’re competing. At that level, M+ is PVP
The leader has several ways to know. One way is direct communication. Discuss the intentions before putting the key in and see if everyone is on the same page.
A second is from context. Who is more likely to leave your 20 if it looks like it won’t be timed? Someone with a 20 completed in that key or someone whose highest is an 18? Who is more likely to stay even if there won’t be points at all? Someone chasing a specific piece of gear or someone looking to increase rating?
I know the answers to these questions and if people would take just a little bit of time to think about it, they would too. Think about why you want to finish. There must be a reason you want to finish even if the key is bricked. There are probably other people in that same situation who feel the way you do. Find them when you’re inviting people.
This is a valid reason to play, and therefore a valid reason to leave. If you invite someone whose sole interest in your key is what they gain from completing it in time you shouldn’t be shocked if they leave once it becomes clear they’re aren’t getting what they came for. You should have invited someone who needs to finish for the vault, or who needs an item, or who needs an infusion. While their tolerance will run out at some point, they are much more highly motivated to finish. The person inviting has the ability to make these determinations if they’ll just spend a little time trying.
Idk what blizzard can do because if you punish someone who leaves then what if someone happens to disconnect do we punish them aswell? What if the group is pushing over a hour and someone decides to leave then cause there out of time? Dont think blizz can do anything. Find a guild or be picky qith who you invite.
People leaving after one wipe hardly ever happens so its really not a big deal. In fact I dont think I have seen a single person do that this expansion.
Did an AA earlier where someone piped up about dps. After timing it with nearly 3m to spare, the dps meter was
- 110k
- 106k
- Chatty cathy 87k
I love when this happens because the mouthiest person is always the dead weight.
But legit question if the group is garbage, so you agree to stay for the the amount of time that the key would still reward rating for, say 5 mins past timer. I think most people are tired of people dropping group and leaving with time left on the clock when there is possibility of timing the key or completing it within reason.
The problem is “within reason” is subjective. There are a lot of people who see time left on the clock and think “we can still time it”, when someone who is more experienced knows that the key is over.
fine i’ll make is very black and white, if the content offers rewards up to 40 mins of a 35min key the you should expect to be in the group for 40 mins. After that point your allowed to troll the forums or touch grass or w/e anyone else wants to do. But once that key goes in the font and the timer starts leaving before that time should be punishable, unless agreed upon by the majority of the group. Say your attempting a key that you know might be too high for you or there was a bunch of deaths and everyone agrees it is a scuffed run.
If groups are wiping and struggling from the start you can tell before you get halfway if you are going to time or not. Why waste another 20-25 minutes to leave when I can leave now and join another group and finish that run faster than completing the current miserable one?
And I’ll make this equally black and white. Why should someone be required to stay until the clock hits zero when they knew 20 minutes ago there was no longer enough time to successfully complete the dungeon? Do you understand that we don’t have to see all zeros on the clock to know that a group that has 15 minutes left on the timer when they finally drop the first boss of RLP isn’t going to make it? It’s not speculation, it’s math. But I feel like you, and others, seem to think that as long as the clock is still running there’s always a chance. There isn’t. The key is almost always failed long before the timer actually ticks down.
I agree as well I don’t want people getting trapped into a bad situation, I just feel there should be a better way of leaving a group then just abandoning a group like a lot of people are doing. Yea sometimes a group goes south way fast but I really hate when your 20 mins into a key and someone makes the decision for the group that its not long doable.
I agree with this in principle. I never join or leave a group without talking to the people there. I never leave a broken key until someone else does first or the group agrees, and even then I’m saying good bye, good luck, or whatever. If things are really bad I may initiate a conversation about what are we intending to do and how long do people want to keep beating on something that isn’t happening.
But I’m a communicative person who isn’t afraid of uncomfortable confrontations. It seems like a lot of people can’t seem to handle interacting with people. For what it’s worth, I hardly ever see anyone leave without a word. I don’t know if I’m just lucky or if the behavior I’m modeling in saying hello and communicating in general makes people more likely to communicate when they’re leaving.
But this is a social problem that the community should fix or accept on its own. Blizzard just makes a video game. It’s not their job to manage social interactions, as long as laws and community standards aren’t being broken, and I don’t really want them intruding on social interactions.
I had an AA 20 last week and we got tree boss down to 20% or so and had a wipe cause of healer and I not being in sync with cooldowns, it was the start of the run. A warrior immediately said gg and left saying that it was impossible to time it if you wipe there. But I’ve timed this key with 1 wipe before, it’s not impossible and we had really good dps. It’s very frustrating for things like that to happen, but ultimately I shouldn’t have brought someone that was going to be that fickle. If he was only there for IO he would have still gotten some even if we failed to time it by a bit cause his best was an 18. But some people think they’re better than they are…
Tie their M+ history to their irl credit rating. If they leave a key put it down as defaulting on a payment. ![]()
You timed a 16… Thinking wiping and recovering on 20 compared to a 16 is delusional.
