It feels like, just based on my general gut instinct about the situation, that the developers who are aware that the low-chance RNG holiday drops are frustrating and unfun for people went to the systems designers and went “let’s do an increased drop with gradual failure protection for these” and someone else, the hidebound lead systems designers or the penny-pinching suits went, “NOOOOOOO! What the Monkey’s Paw doth give, it must take away in equal or greater measure! If we give them something they will become spoilt and soft and not properly contribute to our time-played statistics!”
So they came up with a convoluted mess of stacking RNG systems that seem to be low-key intended for people to defensively form groups for the fight that all queue together, as per usual.
I still see people doing the fight for the first time in every group I end up in. The fact that the fight has mechanics at all suddenly, after all this time, is still taking people by surprise, especially when they bring in their low-level, low geared alts that they never play or tank or healer offspecs that they only ever touch for faster queues and don’t know what half their abilities do like they could’ve any other year.
I’ve had to finish the fight with just me and the tank still up several times.
Part of the problem is that you can’t see other people’s curse-based ground nonsense, so the tank doesn’t know what to help people stay out of and can’t help with their positioning. From the point of view of the other people in the party, people just keep randomly running off for who even knows what reason.

As a current laptop without mouse player, it’s still pretty easy.
Curses are per character, as far as your other question… not sure.
All we know is you get a extra chance on first account kill per day and curses give extra chances to drop. What any of those numbers are, we will never know.
There is literally an increased chance to get him.
When another DPS follows you when you try to avoid the purple rings. I had this warlock one run who who seemed to copy my every move as i tried to get some distance from them in order to avoid the overlapping purple rings.
Or the tank that just inches backwards a little when the fire swirls drop keeping the Horseman smack in the middle of a fire field and im on a melee dps

I do that, Until he’s done doing it
I get annoyed when people tank him on the broken fence. People get stuck on the broken fences.

Yes, i was on an Arms Warr so id just hang out at the edge of the fires until they stopped then heroic leaped back into the fray. But meh, lost DPS porential…
Hmmm, Horseman dosent have any cleaves does he? how dangerous would it be standing next to the tank when trying to melee?
Google what? We really have no idea how it works, and there’s no way to find out.
Considering that not long ago they quietly removed bonus rolls for the Sha of Anger from the vendor, which means that it will now take twice as long to get that mount, I don’t see any honesty in how Blizzard is managing this.
Exactly! I felt the same thing
Correct OP, and don’t forget that it now also takes about 5 times as long to kill him than before, so before you could run say 5 alts through in that time and have 5 chances now you only get 1 chance in that same amount of time.

How low of a chance are we talking here?
I’ve gotten two already and I can’t even do anything with the spare.
Life isn’t fair. Just keep trucking along

No, you don’t. You still have a chance to loot it.
What is actually happening is:
(Made up numbers since we don’t know the exact)
Before:
0.1% Drop Rate at all times, every attempt.
Now:
First attempt of the account each day: 0.3% chance.
Subsequent attempts each day: 0.1% chance.
First attempt of the account each day with curses: 0.3% chance, with an additional 0.1% chance per curse active, for a total of 0.7%.
Subsequent attempts each day with curses: 0.1% chance with an additional 0.1% per curse, for a max of 0.4%.
Again, made up numbers, it could very well be lower, or even higher. This is just to establish that:
You have the same chance with no curses now that you had before the revamp, except you’ll have an increased chance on your first account attempt each day.
And people who do use the curses have a slightly increased chance.
Did they? I finally got it on my first run with my Shadow Priest, so I assumed they must have nerfed it, RNG hates me.
Lmfao are you seriously comparing this to ce?!? It is still faceroll content even with curses, blizz just gave a little bonus chance for using very mild mechanics. Stop demanding things for nothing, geez gen z is wild.
The curses only apply to players who take them, not everyone has to suffer for one or so people wanting the hard mode. The curses even have a safety feature that if they kill you you revive at full health but curses fade from you along with their bonuses to loot chance. To everyone without a curse the fight is more simple as they’re not try to avoid getting stacks that lower your total hp by 10% I think it was per stack for being hit by mechanics
Cursed fight is annoying on alts with no gear with other players using alts with no gear. I got around this by grouping with a friend to help carry each other, but I totally understand why people might be annoyed when a 2-3 minute fight turns into a 7-8 minute long slog because everyone is on their 10th alt running curses.
