Heh. That’s why I tend to not use hats/helms in general.
It isn’t just the witch hats: it’s headgear as a whole. Unfortunately, I think the issue itself stems from this game being so old and the fact that in order to fix it at this point, they would literally have to look at every helm, every race, and every hairstyle.
At the very least, it would be nice if newer options in future expansions took this into account. I don’t realistically expect them to do this on 21 years worth of stuff that came before, but it would be nice to have some options that preserve a character’s chosen hairstyle.
Nah. They could just let us toggle hair on/off in the transmog menu. I’m sure plenty of people would do silly things with that, just like plenty of people were bound to use their “hide everything” xmogs. But I don’t think that’s a reason not to give us the option.
This is my stance on a lot of things they really should do, like Paladins for everyone or letting you mog a robe while hiding the skirt part.
There will be edge cases where things are extra silly, like goblin paladins. But for the most part people will naturally gravitate towards the options that make sense\look good, and really what’s wrong with a few people looking dumb of they really want to?
Like, if it’s too much work to add a “compressed hair” to each hairstyle to display under hats (which, fair, big game, old game, lots of hats to test), could we get the occasional hat with “wigs” that use common hair tints, (or, if possible, dynamically use your character’s hair tint?), like GW2 has started making?
they could simply make a few new hats that let the hair hang down , no need to go change the old ones, the yearly tavern crawl mini event there is a captains hat you get to wear that lets the hair hang down from the Gadgetzan Inn ,so we know it has and can be done.
i don’t like the skinhead look either, prefer the hair to hang down on my hat, it is a shame the biggest mmorpg is so weak on their character customizations compared to much smaller games out there.
I don’t use helms mostly because of this bald look for even just hats, and that many helms have a big gap at the neck area so it looks like I’m balancing a pot on my bald head.
I like the Witch hats, but I don’t like going bald so I don’t wear them.
Though, I don’t think this company is fixing it anytime soon. Look at the new Dou Li hat from the Pandaren heritage armor. That one makes you go bald too! And it’s just one model for one race. If this lazy company didn’t deliver there, they’re not going to revamp the entire hat system.
