Create a couple of servers and label them no layering or sharding. Devote them to the actual classic players and let us deal with the long Q times and mob generations. Make other servers like you planned for the I want it right now crowd (retail). That way when they all leave the true people you are making classic for will be happy and continue on with the game we love. This is not a hard thing to do. Please give us our vanilla experience we want WARTS and all.
Classic is not vanilla.
Really this is your reply? Why would you care if Blizz did this for us VANILLA players? Hows that.
You keep thinking this is for you. Its not. Its to entice newer players into keeping paying to play what to them is a new experience. We aren’t getting vanilla back.
This isn’t a bad idea. That seems like a nice compromise. Give us some no layering servers. I will wait in the realm queue for 2 hours rather than play a server with layering.
This is the same kind of I WANT attitude that got us all the changes we hate.
Just sayin…
Layering isn’t supposed to be around more that a few weeks. So it seems as a bit of an overreaction to a temporary “problem”.
I’m pretty much okay with this.
There’s MUCH less salt on the classic forums, so I don’t think people will complain about not being able to play as much.
Could just wait an extra month or so to log in and get the “vanilla experience”
Celsa, Why would you think that? I believe this (classic) is being created for us not you. So what is the big deal if they gave US this little bone. I think it would be a great thing for the people that I wanna play with. That way all you retail people can check out classic with the no wait and let us deal with the Q’s and all the other problems that way we are both happy. I don’t see a down side to this.
That’s precisely what WOW Classic is.
How about this:
#DealWithIt
Why does the suggestion bother you?
While I understand your point and would support it if they would. Blizzard isn’t going to do this for the same reason that layering exists in the first place. They don’t want to invest the money in additional server infrastructure that could be worthless in a few months anyway. Why would they want to create additional non layered servers outside of the ones they are already making when the ones they are already making will be enough to hold the initial crowd for Classic and then be plenty to hold the playerbase as a whole once the tourist crowd dies down. And then even run the risk of the non-layered servers being dead because the players who chose to play there got tired of waiting on queues and decide they want to efficiently level up their characters instead of waiting on queues or dealing with server crashes because the server is overloaded.
So, layering/sharding is the only difference between retail and vanilla? It has nothing to do with the I want it now crowd in reality. It has to do with long term server health.
They learned from the massive mistake they made originally resulting in tons of dead servers, rendering the time investment made by the remaining players there null.
Are you a software engineer?
Define an “actual classic player”…
If the player decides, everyone is an actual classic player.
I am, and its not a hard thing to do, programattically. It’s a stupid, misguided, and destructive thing to do… but it’s not that hard.
Then again, most mistakes are easy to make.
Well then, I stand corrected. He is right and I am wrong in that it is not hard to do. Thank you for clarifying.
Heres an idea. They put up all the servers whatever way they plan to, and if you don’t like it don’t play.
Except that it isn’t. We are getting a hybridized version of 1.12. There is not going to be a “classic” reemergence of friendliness and helpfulness. The playerbase is just too cynical after all these years.
Don’t get me wrong, I WISH that wasn’t the case.
