This argument is so stupid, almost as stupid as the well XYZ have done this for years and nothings happened. The world is waking up that the Chinese Government has a heavy hand in too much of their life. So what can we do? We affect change where we can and transition when able. Sorry but you asking for people to drop everything at once is not only unrealistic its also incompatible with life at this time.
China has no free speech and the U.S. free speech only protects people in the U.S. from the U.S. Government and not from individuals , private companies or governments from other countries.
They are a for profit company .
Money is their moral
But given that US companies have been dealing with China way before this, why now should people start boycotting Blizz and making their ire known when they should have started boycotting and making their ire known way beforehand with other US companies.
Please link for me the official quote from blizzard stating that they now support the communist regime.
Because if blizzard has not made an offcial statement declaring than they have not “come out against freedom”
All they have done is enforce their political policies.
So if you are disgusted by blizzard then you should no longer support any business working with china.

Who said this is my first Foray into railing against the Chinese government and their practices? Oh right cus its not. You only have a window into each individuals responses to China cus their avatars are here. You make the false assumption that people haven’t taken action elsewhere.

What? That most of everything is made in China? He’s saying he doesn’t wish to support China, seems hypocritical to me to continue using products made by them in that case.
That has nothing to do with political views it has to do with inner - company matters .
Every voice at Blizzard matters is them going we want people to bring their ideas to the table . It is a company slogan a company ideal not some political statement the people seem to be ignorantly making it out to be.

I have played this game on and off for 15 years. I took a hiatus when I had my son but came back 2 years ago. I finally begged my boyfriend enough to get him to play Classic and he loves it.
Now this story comes out where Blizzard is CENSORING blitzchung over his protesting stance about Hong Kong. This goes far beyond just “using products sold or doing business in China”. No one is asking you to give that up. We know it’s almost impossible.
But as stated before, Blizzard is based out of California. They are American. In America we do not censor people. Imagine someone saying something about Trump during the winning speech. Everyone would cheer. This poor kid got his winnings STOLEN from him and then was banned for a year for saying “liberate hong kong”!! Do you guys understand? Blizzard chose to censor and punish this player when in nearly ANY OTHER CIRCUMSTANCE no one would have blinked an eye.
Do we continue to support this company, this game, we have all played for so very long, invested so much money and time into, when they are supporting an authoritarian government censoring their citizens on our American companies? It has gone too far and we should really think about this more than writing it off to “one person can’t make a difference”… No, but we all could show them we do not agree. Until they make it right.
