Blizz, Hong Kong, Freedom of speech, lets have an Adult discussion

People weren’t going to be happy, but it wouldn’t have generated as much negative press as their heavy handed response did. A year ban, forfeiture of prize money, and banning the casters added a huge amount of fuel to the fire.

are you leaving? Gnight Vel! Not sure if you meant you were leaving or just putting a  xD

Do you really think these adults were parroting pro hong kong lines without context and deserve to be let off the hook like pre schoolers?

lol am actually playing my little UD mage in classic.

But still around… out of “likes”

You first, please.

That’s what they get for cutting every corner they can to save every penny. They should have had the stream on a short delay, but that would have required more work and thus cost more money.

A response stating that they don’t share the views of the person getting banned is literally worse than what they did, you think it sounds neutral? it doesn’t it reads bad. The only thing they could have done is stick to a punishment of a 6 month ban and saying nothing else and even then it would still be bad. Marketing/PR wise this whole thing was a nightmare that no marketing/PR person hopes to have to deal with.

Yep, going back to spend some time with my little classic 'lock - letting the 45 hunter take a breather for a bit.

Agree with this and would “like” but out of “likes”

You want to try thought experiments? OK.

This situation is like if the state of Alabama was allowing the Klan to run a line of buses using the state’s name, and issuing a public posting with official DoT letterhead condemning Rosa as well as having choice words for “them negroes” and ending by saying that we would “respect and defend white pride.”

Can you see why Alabama issuing a tepid nonpology to bus riders after allowing that to happen would be met with disdain?

First off it’s middle schoolers, young teens becoming young adults where I’m there trying to show them they have a better future than being the women on the streets that come out at night, or showing them a better life outside of their home if they can just make it. I like what I do.

Secondly, it’s similar to the fight example I gave. People following in line but the situation was handled differently. Should they still get a punishment? I’d say so. But it’s also possible because it was unpredictable to happen they might have had a slap on the wrist. At least with Blitz we go off body language and giggling that they knew something was gonna happen.

hehe my UD lock is my horde main.

Classic Vel is my alliance main… but I haven’t played her much b/c hunters are borked

They did that anyway, or at least NetEase did on their weibo account.

That is exactly what they were doing. They don’t care about Hong Kong, they pulled the stunt specifically to see if they would get banned.

Adult laws and contracts don’t work like that, and blizzard isnt raising young teens

Oh so you know them!

Wait, why would they try and get banned for supporting HK if they don’t care about HK?

That makes no sense.

Can you link a story that says they didn’t do it expecting to get banned? That’s like…the whole reason anyone is pointing to it, because it let’s them say “AHA! SEE!!!”

People like being (in)famous.

edit: I guess that is pretty strange. If thats the case Blizz probably has a choice again: issue a punishment (aside from them having forfeited already) or let it go.

Then you have to wonder if indeed they had the legal obligation to protect shareholders from this.Fiduciary Bill or something like that.
