Blizz, Hong Kong, Freedom of speech, lets have an Adult discussion

Well, seeing as that I’m losing everything cause he’s having a hard time finding a job, I’d rather not see anyone have to do that. But you don’t look at the bigger picture do you? All the people that still need to eat or support their family.

This could get Blizzard banned in China for literally no good reason.

I support Hong Kong but this will not help them in the slightest and could hurt Blizzard, the people who work for them, and the people who enjoy their products over there, majorly.

Also there are already people doing that kinda stuff at Blizzcon. You ever see them? lol

If you want to help Hong Kong then actually do something to help Hong Kong.

But you don’t look at the bigger picture do you?

See here’s the problem. You’re not. What’s happening in HK is bigger than your problems. What’s happening in HK affects thousands of people.

You want people to shut up and look out for themselves.

Sorry for some reason my brain cant comprehend this sequence of words. Can you elaborate on them?

No, no I don’t think I will…

You are too kind. I too am out of likes so I wish the same for you.

no I don’t , but how is boycotting what Blizzard did helping HK? How is saying anything helping HK? Do you realize how massive China is, and how huge their military is? Everyone has nuclear weapons these days do they not? They are a superpower. How much money does the US owe them? A lot.

And Blizzard isn’t the only company that has huge stake in China. Many corporations do. All I’m saying is if blizz did make a public stance FOR HK, then many would lose their jobs and you’d not be posting on the forums cause they’d lose many shareholders. Its a no one either way. All I’m saying is to look at the bigger picture.

The prob with China goes deeper than letting a HS winner make comments on tv.

I’m not sure you understand, the higher ups are the company. The employees are the expendable ones. How is showing support for HK publicly at their event somehow against the rest of the people?

So you think that a mere statement of support is somehow going to lead to job losses in Blizzard–so now what, money and jobs are more important than human dignity? I guess you support defense contractors that murder people by the tens of thousands in war activity every year because ~at least the bomb makers have jobs~ right?

Not EVEN what I am talking about. Showing support at the con doesn’t mean I want the company to go under. IT MEANS I WANT THEM TO DO BETTER. NOBODY HERE SAID ANYTHING ABOUT A BOYCOTT, dude. My post says SHOW SUPPORT for HK.

Dude, do you not remember when Kotick became CEO and then everyone lost their jobs. And they had record sales! Now imagine what would happen over being anti China in their biggest markets. That record job layoff would be way more severe.

Please support Hong Kong, and wear supportive Hong Kong shirts, or signs. They won’t be able to use the footage in China. Supporting Hong Kong is bigger than all your problems.

Politics? You mean human rights for a crisis in which a US COMPANY is censoring and banning people at the behest of a foreign nation to protect a 5% stake in the company? You are completely out of your mind if you think this is “just politics”. I am not from HK but even if I were that’d make it even more relevant. I am not from HK but I am in the US and SERIOUSLY concerned about a company in MY country acting on behalf of a corrupt govt which seeks to silence and suppress and ABUSE people. I am not in China. Blizz does not need to treat its players like we are. THAT is the point of supporting HK outside of it being for basic human dignity and merely supporting this should NEVER have been punished by a US company.

Those countries you mentioned are those countries, but the second you get a US based company acting to suppress people on those countries behalf, that is where the issue begins. How that flies over your hollow head I’ll NEVER know.

More importantly, do I care and does it have anything to do with a video game?

The answer to both is no.

Everyone has nuclear weapons these days do they not? They are a superpower. How much money does the US owe them? A lot.

And you think that they’re going to nuke people over a video game.

And Blizzard isn’t the only company that has huge stake in China. Many corporations do.

Cool, and what we’re talking about right now is what Blizzard did.

then many would lose their jobs and you’d not be posting on the forums

And wouldn’t I Just miss being here.

cause they’d lose many shareholders.

Maybe it’ll improve things if we don’t have to bow to China.

The prob with China goes deeper than letting a HS winner make comments on tv.

And what we’re talking about is what happened on TV. So if you want to keep to that, it’d be great. If you want to fearmonger, I suggest therapy.

I’m going to be on vacation. I get one week out of the year to relax and disconnect myself from life, I’m going to take advantage of that. I have no interest in causing any scene or problems, for Blizzard or others. I just want to go enjoy my convention and then visit my family. Yes, I’m in support of the HK protestors. But I don’t want to think about that when I’m trying to have a good time. Yes, that likely sounds selfish of me. I’m worrying about this stuff the other 51 weeks of the year, I would like one week off.

If you’re interested in seeing what they’ll do, go hold a sign outside of the convention or see if there’s a ticket available. Pay the thousands to get there yourself, don’t tell others to “just to see what happens.”

I get that its important, but what good is prayers or well wishes when the root of the problem is the government itself that won’t change? Someone on twitter who plays HS was getting threatened over this and called a coward, when he has family that lives in China. They probably monitor his account, why would he say anything for or against the situation? He’s protecting his family. And its things like this that say yes its great to support HK, but if you think well wishes, prayers, and wearing apparel is going to help its not.

I’m honestly not sure if we can get ourselves out of bed with China. So many people are rooted in firm.

Exactly! This! It’s peaceful protest and shows support for HK as well as sends Blizzard a message that US companies should not be enforcing Chinese policy!

Nah I know they won’t nuke over a video game, but I’m trying to tell you the problem is much more than a video game. The country itself is too powerful in every way even in commerce, what do you expect to be done?

I would, but I live on the east coast and work part time. I can’t afford to go to the convention. I know people who are going who are definitely interested in organizing an effort though. If you don’t want to do it, do you. But spreading the idea as a peaceful form of protest shouldn’t be crapped on. Mind your own business if you don’t care.

Blizzard to not overreact and ban someone for a year as well as firing two people who had no knowledge of what was going to happen. That’d be a start.
