Blizz, Hong Kong, Freedom of speech, lets have an Adult discussion

I think you’ll find that Blizzard “lets go” of some employees who made this call.

I didn’t say anything about it. I only said what countries are doing and why this is getting global attention.

Hong Kong tried to get the extradition measure pushed through because a man from Hong Kong killed his pregnant girlfriend in Taiwan and then came back.

He couldn’t go on trial for murder because he couldn’t be extradited.

For you, it’s about human rights. For China, it’s about not allowing people to get away with murder. No country would allow that, but China MUST, according to some, because they’re a Communist system.

There wasn’t any. Deal with it.

Well, they better do something before this spirals out of control. I can see where this is going from a mile away.

That’s about as ridiculous as it needs to get for me to go ahead and say that there isn’t anything worth protesting in China either.

Glad we agree.

They’re probably bringing Maalox into the office by the 55-gallon drum.

There is no “up” side to Blizzard taking a stand here. The company has agreements with foreign entities, including ones in China and they are all bound by whatever traffic the Chinese government will allow.

The alternative is for Blizzard to withdraw from the Asian market.

Everyone who works for Blizzard in Asia would lose their jobs. The lost revenue would doubtless impact EU and NA operations as well and could conceivably cost more jobs.

Blizzard may lose market share; income and finally the ability to continue in business. Or, Blizzard will continue with fewer employees.

Either way, nothing you, I or Blizzard does will affect the Chinese government. Same for any company doing business overseas.

Oh, yeah, we are totally herding all of our black citizens into brainwashing camps, or shooting them in the head for not bowing to our one party dictatorship!

1 jerk who deserves his fate is not worth the amount of people who have already been hurt in the protests. Trust me Karma will get to him. She has a waiting list and doesn’t always get to it soon, but she always gets to it. And this is why paid sin rogues where made…I’m sure someone will take that hit pro-bono.

(slaps self, I’m bad…nm me)

This is really the bottom line. The people asking for Blizzard to stand with this guy are essentially asking them to throw their hat in the ring against one of the most powerful governments in the world.

It’s not going to happen. Blizzard is in China for one thing. $. They aren’t there to change or save the country. Get over it.

When Hong Kong protested British rule, yes, all of those times, people literally died.

Secondly, this isn’t just about one jerk.

Without extradition, anybody can go from Hong Kong to China, kill someone, then go back and face no justice.

… literally anyone.

… it’s a murder loophole.

They could have just done nothing. They turned this into a huge deal.

Why should they have done nothing? This contestant blatantly broke the rules. And no, Blizzard didn’t “turn this into a huge deal.” Other people did.

To quote Keanu Reeves:

“That’s uh, that’s whacky.”

Gee, it’s almost like they are American and not supposed to be the spineless slaves of a foreign Communist government.

I’m sorry that you actually believe the lies spouted by a black supremacist terrorist organization that doesn’t actually care about actual black lives, only those they can twist or use as political props to promote violence and murder.

Kaepernick: Throws away multi-million dollar contract with NFL to make political statement.

World: There wasn’t any oppression.

Kelisaria: Told you so.

Still has millions, hasn’t been arrested, and the US isn’t butchering black people or herding them into camps.

Syzzyt: Black people are being oppressed! Kill whitey!

On that you are correct. However that doesn’t mean only one side can exploit it. :smiling_imp:

(again don’t mind me, my work day has been bad and it’s left me a touch on the murderie side)

they would be hard pressed statements. like, you would not have both political parties weighing in on it then. the level of coverage would be moot because they would have made no official statements.
