Blizz, Hong Kong, Freedom of speech, lets have an Adult discussion

The protesters killed several policemen and soliders before that day. Not only peacfully protesting. Anyway, you can say these are fake news.

You just said WoW is escapism and you dont want politics and in the next sentence you say that you don’t want Blizzard to censor political messages, are you crazy or just missing some brain cells?

thank you Osaka for that, I admit I was feeling a little crowded in here before you showed up, as I’m one of the few people that saying I am not anti-protests, but I think protesters should not use violence to get their way.

What I want is for Blizzard’s actions to not be dictated by Xi Jinpooh in exchange for piles of Yuan.

The banning of Ng is a small symptom of a larger problem.

So arrest the ones responsible, you don’t murder the lot of them.

What is “uppity” by your definition?

Throwing rocks?
Beating anyone in their way?
Throwing acid bombs?
Throwing Molotov Cocktails?
Burning down stores, trains, stations?

I’m seriously asking where would you draw the line.

So you dont want politics and you dont want Blizzard to censor any political messages? What do you want Blizzard to do? I’m seriously starting to think that something is not clicking in your brain.

Of course threads like this are still active, but yesterday’s threads criticizing Blizzard were all wiped out.

All it takes is an hour of people not posting for a single topic to fall off the first page.

Unless protesters have machine guns and are firing at the police with them, having the police unload into a crowd is not a valid response.

Actually, I agree with the substance of your point. But I didn’t say it was pointless, but ineffectual. Just trying to inject some realities into this discussion. Lofty ideals are one thing. Action is another.

Giving up your computer and components, phone and cheap Chinese goods, and yes, your Blizzard account is a start. Posting on the internet is passive and unlikely to bring about the change you want to see.

If you are serious, I urge you to get involved with local US politics. Sometimes and with enough support, people’s actions can and do make a huge difference. Local politics often have a way of creeping up the food chain. At national levels of course, you have to combat strong and powerful lobbies.

Not saying it can’t be done. Just saying it won’t get done if people just post about it, cancel their subs for a few weeks, and do nothing further.

I fully support political action taken to improve life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. But our individual influence and power is limited and requires much more than words.

Which is why rubber bullets and tear gas is used or was used in the past. Lethal force isn’t always necessary. Riots can be stopped without turning it into a full on blood bath.

Well then, would you mind trying any of those (especially Molotov Cocktail) out on the next American cop that pisses you off?

Oh hey. Word from one of the people directly involved with the incident. And also a voice of reason as to what actually happened and why they happened.

Yes, at least here in the west. China did not do that, and instead resorted to live ammunition fired into crowds of students and bystanders.

Are they doing it to Hong Kong tho?

1 on 1 is not the same as handling a riot.

Police are trained to handle riot situations without resorting to massacres, even when outnumbered.

Don’t change the subject, you know we were talking about Tiananmen Square.

Companies are people. They’re not parking garages and buildings and office supplies. Companies are owned and run by people, and the decisions they make have meaning.

So you’re saying if it was just yourself throwing Molotov to cops, you’d probably be shot in the head, but if there are hundreds doing that altogether, the cops should just use nonlethal methods?
